PostSubject: Three old kitties    Sun Sep 25, 2011 7:54 pm

Three days have passed without new bullyland-pictures What a Face
Willy, what are we thinking about Shocked No

Fortunately last week I got three cute little "oldies" marked Bully.

The brown one is a maine coon, the white one a persian , - and of course a masked Siamese Very Happy
They were all first made in 1989.
Behind them the present persian cat-model to show the size.

In the "Bullyworld" catalogue there is a pictures of the maine Coon in light grey.
The Siamese was already in my collection, but of course there are always room for a Siam more here cheers

A series of 6 tame cats was made in 1989, I am 99,9% sure they were the first cats that Bully made. Schleich`s series of cat breeds was made 8 years later.

Here are the other three, House-cat, Burma and British blue :

The Maine Coon does look very much like a Norwegian Forestcat, don't you think so Susanne? Rolling Eyes

I don`t know much about them, except that they are gorgeous both Very Happy
Perhaps Sue & lesley can help? I understand they have Maine Coons scratch

From what I can read [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] it seems it looks like a somewhat old fashioned Maine Coon, - the difference between the breeds did not use to be so obvious before they became popular show cats cat cat

Wonderful cats, Susanne! cheers Most people think that Schleich invented everything.
If I was a collector of domestic animals my choice would be cats! cat They are beautiful!!! I love these from Bullyland, mainly the old siamese and also some from Schleich series. Those from CollectA are not so nice but they are beautiful anyway. Congratulations! :)

Thankyou, Roger flower

Yes, cats are wonderful, beautyful, adorable creatures with heaps of personality!

As usual some breeds are being made too extreme, like the persians with too short noses and too much fur, so they have problems keeping themselves clean.

The latest Siamese are almost too extreme, they begin to look like monkeys with big ears, - but still, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]the is something very special to me Very Happy cat

Laughing Yes, I think Schleich and Bullyland have been competing for as long as Bullyland has existed Suspect Wink

Thanks for the link Susanne! What they are doing with cats now is terrible, cats are not toys, people think first in having a beautiful cat even if is not healthy. I know in future the same will happen with human babies. People choose every characteristics and if they don't like him they change him in a shop for another, or so! Sad
I know that's terrible but I know how some humans are. Beautiful monkeys! cat I confess they are wonderful! cat flower Cats of course... cat

Sorry to dig up such an old post, but does anybody know the year these cats were retired?

And I'm also searching for the item number of the black housecat.

I'd like to post a photo of the black cat in my blog, but I need some information of him first :)

Thanks!

I am not sure when they were retired, but perhaps I can find out app when. I don`t have all the catalogues ( yet Rolling Eyes ).

But I can help you a little : The item no is 66352, and he was launced in 1989 together with the others shown here, except the newer, white Persian cat.

Thank you so much for the item number! That helps a lot too!

It says 1988 on my cat's belly, but does that mean the year when that figure was made? But the line was launched in 1989??

Good that it was of some help Very Happy

The year on the model is the year that the mold was made, and that is often the year before it was launched.

Schleich does it consequently, and Papo did it at the beginning, but not any more.
Bullyland has not used to put numbers on their models for many years.
And as far as I know, Safari also did at the beginning too, - but I don`t know so much about Safari, as they are almost impossible to get here in Denmark.

You probably know this already, - but the year in the mould is (usually?) not changed, even if the model gets a completely new painting and even a new item no.
We see this quite often in Schleich models. study

I am sure that some experts may add something to this Wink

Ah, thanks for explaining all this :)
It's really interesting.

It's quite hard to get Safari figures here in Finland too...
