I have the honor to present one of my top 5 personal favorites for 2012, African wild dog...
I was very excited to see what pose Mojo team selected for this animal, and I was delighted to see that they delivered beautiful animal in position of effortless movement. I just love this cruising animal... cheers

Nice, but it make me think of a pup or a young one - because of these relatively short and thick legs. Maybe if they were a bit longer my general impression would be better.

On second thought, if he will be released as he is now, I'll buy him anyway - after a little customisation he could be a nice dhole Twisted Evil

I like the pose, but I'm not sure about the colour. Usually they have more white and brown spots, and I thing this one is too black.
Anyway is a good figure and will be in my Wishlist for 2012 :)

I agree with everyone here Laughing

First, maybe the legs are a bit too short Suspect

Second, I would prefer a more marbled colored lycaon, this one is too black Cool

Third, I love the way he moves, like a real one in the savannah I love you

Fourth, I will buy it in 2012 of course cheers

But again, maybe MOJO could change the painting sunny

About being too black...
http://lh3.ggpht.com/-MQGtLqEwVFI/TnSSIUhJzYI/AAAAAAAAClY/4R6DqYrfXVQ/P1080453.jpg
These animals don't have the most usual color but it's there, in the savannah Wink

In my opinion legs aren't too short but a little bit shorter. The main issue is in the strength of limbs, these are a little bit stronger but to make them thinner means to make them weaker and more bendable. I understood that this was the only thing that wasn't possible.

I agree lycaons have a lot of different patterns, some are very black and some are far more yellow.

But I prefer a marbled one... because it is really the best for my taste Wink drunken

Me too, but I saw you became quite good in repainting... Wink

I don't have anything against this coloration but of course that I agree that marbled ones are more attractive.

I'm sure MOJO could do it so I don't need to repaint one... Except if I want a black one then Laughing

OH.MY.GOD.
This was my first post on STS:

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes, the legs could be better, and i hope they'll change the paint job to a more marbled pattern, but still EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i tell you, i'm starting to get nervous that maybe Mojo has an alien electrode implanted in my head to read my mind, since they're bringing out so many of my favorite animals!

I like the pose, it's different than Safari's. But the paint is a little off. They have more patches of white and various shades of brown and tan.

Thanks for posting, Robert! The figure would look better with narrower legs and a richer pattern as Orcagirl suggested. I like the choice of the species, not many brands were brave enough to release such a magnificent animal. From more known brands i think only Safari did it and with a very defensive pose and anyway with lots of complaints about the balance. What make the legs look some short is the fact of being some thick and also the fantastic cruising pose. As a collector and knowing that there's no standard pattern in this species, i'm glad seeing a dark version to give some variability with the safari counterpart. That's a perfect species to work with painting variations in the future. And real variations, not like some that one is dark blac and other is
blac dark. It is in my wish list and will join the Safari friend. :)

You are right Roger, this species is under-represented on collector's shelves. I really don't understand why because this animal is very iconic and there are several TVshows about the african Wild dogs. Still a dog but easy for chidren to distinguish from foxes or wolves.
Except the SAFARI Ltd, the only other lycaon figurines are Japanese. It's great to see MOJO making sit cheers
About the legs, you are probably right that's why I said they were maybe too short.
I forget to say the head profile is fantastic Cool

Cool!! A very nice figurine with excellent pose!
And indeed, as Kiki said, I love the way he moves, like a real one in the savannah.

First Mojo figure for 2012 that does not impress me completely. Neutral But of course that would be boring if every figure would be perfect and also dangerous for our wallets. Shocked Shocked
Anyway, the pose is amazing and unique. Very Happy The Paintwork could be better and as many before said the legs are a bit to short.
But because of the pose I think I'll buy it in spite of a few mistakes. Very Happy bounce

Great choice to make a Wild dog.

He surely will become a mate for the Safari one.

I like the colour, but I think - comparing with the picture of the link - the tail could be a little bit longer and have a higher startpoint. Also the back could be a bit straighter.

While I like the figure and have no problem with the color (as mentioned they come in all sorts of patterns from dark through the marble colored individuals) I can't think of a wild dog figure that can compete with the set done for me by Ana for my diorama, here they are for those of you who may be new...

I agree also Phil! That's the reason why other brands can not compete with Mojo horses in 2012! Also these customs from Anna are not possible for mass production in any of the modern brands! As I told before, some known brands were not brave to make wild dogs even knowing that they are a common species that even children know! scratch

Ohh, alas, they are not a common species any more. Crying or Very sad
Just last night I saw in TV that they are seriously threatened with extinction.
And as they are very difficult to breed in captivity ( they often fight to death when put together with one they don`t know),
the future for this beautyful, mysterious dog looks very dark indeed Sad Sad Sad

Oh, but of course I know what you mean, Roger.
As you say, they are common in the sence that they are well known Very Happy

It's sad to hear that African Wild Dog is going extinct and perhaps in future needs to put under " Prehistorical Mammals" Section.
