Please all coments are aloud good or bad, please any suggestions(except for that she needs an ear I took it off so she can lay flat.
Dear sculpters what tool do you use to add the fur texture, I was using a needle and was wondering if I was just pressing to hard or using the wrong tool.
now full body pictures.

Ethan, you can always edit your own post to correct it. :)
I think that's a very nice idea making an impala. I'm sure the talented sculptors of the forum will help you a lot. Good luck! :)

Ethan, what are you sculpting in? it looks like it may be an epoxy putty. with that type of air drying putty a needle should work. Go to a craft store and check out all the diffrent thickness, that are available you may be using to fine of a needle. also that type of putty can be more diffacult to work with because of the fast dry-time. I have found super sculpty easier to work with. It is a polymer clay that you bake in the oven at a low temp. you usally use a wire armatuer as a sort of skelaton to layer your polymer clay onto. Air drying putty can be washed over with water to soften up the texure a bit after you sculpt it on. With polymer clay you can use rubbing alcohol.

I hope this helps a bit, I'm currently working on a second Impala myself, I can't wait to see how yours turns out.

Happy sculpting.

Super Sculpey is a brilliant clay I agree with Joe, especially the "Super Sculpey Firm" which is what I use. It's expensive, but worth it.

There are many different tools you can use for fur detail, I started with a pin and still use one. I have also found dentist tools useful, I was given a load and they really do the job nicely. The person who gave them to me got them direct from the dentist.

thanks for all the suggestions and complements. I am actually using sculpty clay but it it dried out so it is harder to bond peices together.

I have another question is the texture too deep or too close together too or far apart or too many lines or not enough?

When you sculpt the hair make many lines very close together, also don't drag the neadle threw the clay, because the clay that you pulled up with the needle will be hanging off your figure instead try to use the needle to make light indentions into the clay, do this by gently pressing the end of the needle (not the tip, but rather the end) into the clay when finished use a wet paint brush, and gently go over what youve done to soften up the texure. I hope that this will help you out.

Happy sculpting.
