PostSubject: Feedback thread?   Fri Nov 02, 2012 1:02 pm

Hi all :)

My partner I love you Tyrantqueen I love you came to me if STS had a Feedback thread, a thread where buyers and sellers of items that are sold in the forums can give each other a positive or negative feedback.

Since it is her idea also, we wondered if it's an idea to have such a thread here too?

I was not a big fan of the DTF feedback thread, I always think this kind of topic is more a "problems cradle" than a positive thing. Until now, people always thanks for the trades, sales or gifts. I can't see the interest of such a topic...

But that's only my point, it could be good to read members opinions before we decide something.

I agree with you Susanne Very Happy
Yeah we had that in mind too, it can have it's negative sides indeed, but on the other side it could be handy as well.

W weren't sure if such a thing could be handy here or not, so that is why I made a topic about it Cool

I can clearly see how the sub-forums "fan arts" or "fan fics" work in some fandom-related forums. But I don't see the point for it in here, because this is a forum about plastic animals..

But who knows, maybe there are some people who write stories with a Schleich lion cub being the protagonist or something..

I said it 'cause here there is a lot of amazing artist and, I think, it will be nice if they can show their creations.
If the sub forum will have places like "photography", "Drawing", etc... They could expand their imagination...
I saw some mmember were doing a comic with schleich figures... This "world" and this animals -and firures of they- can be a big inspiration, and the members who want, could do things together -like the comic or similar, or another creative ideas- and, from this way, met more people who like the same as you.

Thanks for think in my idea >.<

(sorry for my bad english =P)

PostSubject: Suggestion: How about a Vintage Non Animal Figure section?    Mon Jan 06, 2014 12:08 pm

As there seems to be a bit more activity among us collectors of 'oldies', how about a vintage section/sub-section here?

At least some members who collect vintage Britains, Elastolin, etc. farm & zoo also collect their soldiers, wild west, knights, and other figures, castles & forts, and so on, and without going too far into the separate field of toy/model car collecting there are vehicles such as horse trucks/trailers and the Corgi Chipperfields Circus series which as been discussed elsewhere recently which overlap with toy animal collections.

I'm just thinking a separate section for vintage non animal items would make it easier to find such threads, plus I'm guessing there won't be many members who collect both old figures and the new ones in almost all of the threads in this section at present.

Opinions about this suggestion please.

I think it is a brilliant idea !!!!

Perhaps more sections ?
I do not know what to call them, but we have people who collect , hmmm, say beer bottles, Sega games, antique bibles, ..whatever, and then stuff related to our core subject ...  scratch

It could give a much better overview to have them separated.. and great to have a vintage and a modern part for the latter Very Happy

Don't tempt me too much, so far here I haven't even mentioned my other (apart from vintage toys) huge collection: books, prints, postcards, cigarette/trade cards, and other stuff relating to rare old breeds of chickens. I've even written books about it.  study
Google: 'David Scrivener poultry' to see, and go to the Amazon UK & US sites, where you can read sample chapters with their 'look inside' a book function.

I don't know for beerbottles or camembert boxes  Laughing Laughing Laughing  but maybe we could do something for your first suggestion.

Since an old member of STS was talking about the same thing for Schleich Bayalas and other non animal stuff.

We have a section for the "non animal replicas and series" but we could change this.

Maybe we could add a "non animal replicas and series" subsection for each major brand, one for the other modern brands, one for the Japanese brands and one for the vintage.

What would you think about this ? It could be satisfying enough and we will stay a Forum dedicated to collectors of animal toy replicas  Wink

Yes, that would cover it for everyone, i.e. follow the same format in the animal replicas/series for non animal series by the same brands. A logical extension without going too far off topic.

PostSubject: A idea for a new section   Thu Feb 20, 2014 4:50 pm

Dave and me talk yesterday about different kinds of animal replicas. And the idea is to have a section for figurines by model train brands , choco egg, different gifts (merchandising), ...

So y idea for a name is:

"Other toy animal replicas"  and here with subsection

model trains
Choco eggs
merchandising
dollhouse animals
.....

Because we all know what the brands are for animal replicas.

What you think about that?

I like this idea because i think here we have there a potential for our hobby. Very Happy

I think the idea of grouping gifts and other figures like that is interesting. Not sure I enjoy the idea of mixing train model figures. I think those will find a place in other sections. Very Happy
But where to put it on forum? ... and what are really gift figures? Azur, Colonil, Cracker Jack, Ferrero, Jaquet, Kaiyodo choco eggs, Kinder, Lind, Long John Silver, Margarinenfiguren, McDonalds, Nabisco, Nigrin, Olá, Rajá,, Sinclair, SOL90, TRIPP, Yowies and things like that? scratch Wink

As a learned professionell seller are gifts that was you not sale as himself, because it is a merchandising product for a other product. Yowies, Furuta and Kinder it could be also as subsetion for choco eggs. And a place in the forum  scratch scratch scratch  between other brands and non-toy animal replicas.
And i think for a model trains brands subsetion. because there are a lot of brand with animal figurines.

But it is okay, it was only a idea  Very Happy

Hmmm. I think it will bring a lot of confusion  scratch

What about key rings ? They come from all brands....
And for instance was Reisler in Soap, and and Schleich Minis came with some crackers....

Just out of curiosity : Shouldn't it be called "Promotion-models" or such ?
In Danish we call it "Medkøb", meaning somethings like "with-purchase"... scratch

I dont how Dave this mean. But here you can buy key rings from Schleich in the shops, so they are not gifts. I think with the Schleich Minis you are right, but here we have Promotion models ( i like this) and brand together, often you have on promotion models only made in China. So i remember me on a small T1 black dog, that i found i think you have too. Or the other models they come with... (Ovomaltine dinosaurs...).

But here i cant really talk, my idea was more the model train thing, the other ideas was from Dave. Very Happy

When editting your profile, there's this 'Personalized profile' section, in which you can write down from which country you are, what your gender is, when your birthday is, your job/hobbies and your mood.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate for this forum and more fun to change the 'mood' section into 'collecting'? So that you can write down what you are collecting. When people visit your profile, they can see what you collect immediately.

Just an idea, share your thoughts!

I think it is an interesting idea.
But I think for the most of us, it is hard to describe in a few words what we collect.
We can describe some animals, example for me would be: Cats, Big cats and Marine mammals.
But those are only my favorites. I also collect elephants, parrots, cows, dogs, sharks, snakes, antelopes, giraffes, humans, elves, horses, bunnies... I think you got my point XD

I got your point and I think most of us have lots that they collect; more than just 'horses' or 'dinosaurs'. But as far as I know, you can use an infinite amount of characters in these sections. So it won't be a problem to write down everything you collect and besides that, it would be more interesting than 'mood' xD

OK, I also find the idea good and deactived the mood field and included a collecting field.
Now, who wants, can edit it and say which kind of figures is collecting. Very Happy

PostSubject: Board or a sticky for Walkaround and/or comparison photos.   Fri Jun 20, 2014 3:06 pm

Maybe it is a good idea to have a board (or if that is to much, a sticky topic) for walkarounds and/or comparison photos. (Both separate of course.)

I often see great comparison photos.
(The one made by Carola with all the brand horses for an example.)
But when I try to find them again, I get lost lol

And all the walkarounds provided by people, very handy for considering buying an animal.

So, maybe an idea to put them all together?

I think it is a brilliant idea !!!! Applause

The question is how to arrange them mith max value in information and accessability, - but our admins are usually experts in solving that kind of challenge Wink
