PostSubject: some new pics and diorama info   some new pics and diorama info EmptyThu Apr 01, 2010 1:46 pm

Hello again, another uncomfortable night so I thought I could post some new ideas and pics of the African diorama.

I have started replacing the old style model train plants with much more realistic ones, first from Danny I have purchased several trees, and ordered more, which are simply fantastic. Here is a shot of the first two acacia trees he sent. [IMG] [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] [/ IMG]

Here is a photo of the seam where the two pieces of the diorama will connect, if you remember from LG, the grass will line up with the grass to the far right where the warthogs are, and the red earth is toward the center, eventually the left will have grass that matches up with the rest of the grass flats that the zebra herd stands on.

Here is the custom gerenuk made by Ana, the female is against one of Danny's acacia trees. This pic was taken just in my room, not out on the diorama, but you get the idea.

Finally, I am in the beginning stages of an Indian / Asian diorama, and here is a few of the animals that I have begun to collect for that diorama, Ana has made me several antelope, nilgai and blackbuck are the pictured, along with several Japanese models of Asian monkeys and a few other animals. You can not see it in the photo, but I have several gabbon and other animals as well as Ana making me things like wild water buffalo for the river scene, and a small herd of gaur, species that I really want to display but no Good models are made in the 1:22 scale that I use.

Hi, the serow is from the Futura/Choco line, these Japanese figures are as good as most of the custom sculptures I collect, the only complaint I have is they are all the same size, no matter what species so for me if it isn't a medium sized animal I can't use it. As far as species and series to collect, they are some of the best pieces around and even though I have no plans for a diorama when I buy sets (most of which I trade away) I keep all of the fish and aquatic inverts just because I love the figures.

I have both of those sets, and they are worth the money, I think there is a seller, ig88droid, who sells the sets, and I have to say, even though they are in sets, they are well worth the money. He is in Japan, but the price is in AU$$ and the conversion is under $48 so it is not too bad and in my opinion so worth the money that I will eventually get all of the sets. Right now I have 4, the cats, the dogs and bears, the living fossil fish, and the raptors, I still need the endangered animals and the aquarium and tropical fish, but I usually get a set every other month or so, depending on how much I spend on my pens and dioramas. Honestly, if you are not happy with the complete set I would be suprised, but there are so many trades available for these figures that they are like cash money.

Twilighter, your avitar, is that a fossa and pup? It looks like one, if you know anything about me from when I first started up here on the site, I have (when healthy, right now I only have a fish tank and some reptiles) had a mini zoo, with big and medium cats such as mountain lions, servals and caracals, binterongs, even for a while a young giraffe, as well as over 300 reptiles and at one time I owned a tropical fish store in Southern CA. anyway the point to all this is a fossa is one of my favorite animals, and I would love to get one for myself when I am back home and ready to keep animals again.

Dear Phil, I'm so sorry that USA is 15 000 km from here! I'll be so happy to met you! For me to have a giraffe is a child dream! Here in Bulgaria there is not! I first saw in Budapest zoo! It's really, really great to know you Phil!
I'm big fan of Fossa too, I'll wait your pictures:). I like ultimate predators, but also interested in small carnivores!

I'm learning a lot from your dioramas and one day I hope I will create something similar !
I thing I will send you some PM Very Happy again!

Yours Truly, Konstantin.

Yesss, the Colorata-sets are really awesome, and fit nicely into my 1:32 scaled animal groups like Britains, Starlux and hausser elastolin(plastic).
Thanks to Phil, i do own most of the cats serie right now. Very Happy
I will place them in the collections part when i find the time.
By the way, i know this seller ig88droid, he is an Australian guy, easy going and very reliable by the way.

Yes Willy, Carl (ig88droid) has been very good to me as far as shipping and getting the sets I want, even though I have only 4 of the Colorata sets, I have several other figures form him, the Geoffry's tree kangaroo, several Choco/Futura individual figures and some of the Bandai. He doesn't always advertise what I buy, but I send him an email and he has come up with every figure that I have asked about except one, the sitting clouded leopard, he can't find that particular figure, at least not yet, I hope he is still looking for it.

By the way, if you want some of these figures and do not want to purchase a full set, Berlinzoo954 has almost 3000 different doubles and is willing to sell them as individual pieces, he and I have done business for a while, and in that time become friends so I highly recommend him if you want to find a Japanese figure, mostly Schleich scale, and you don't have to buy a whole set to get the figure you want. He sells on ebay, I look under the heading Schleich scale retired figures and most of what comes up are his figures, though yesterday I looked and he doesn't have any listed, there is usually around 20 figures at a time.

Yes Phil, i know Danny has an amazing collection from before he decided to make all of his figurines for the zoo by hand.
But i lack the cash to deal with him for those wanted items.
And i am a person who wants to complete series, animals or models that i really like or not.
For me there is only 100%, and nothing less, and that will take time and money... Laughing
