I had plenty of free time today so I did a quick repaint. I had origionally asked Harriet if she would like to do them, but since then she had become very busy with different projects and so I thought that I would do it myself.

It wasn't intended to be a masterpeice and it looks pretty nice on my shelves but saying that I might be tempted to revisit it to add some shades of red/brown at a later date.

Great paint, I love the big grey squirrels we have here, but they are getting pushed out by the smaller red squirrels who have more babies each year.

Thanks B-zoo! I think if a company is going to sell two squirrels, then why not have two different sub species instead of the same? I understand that with Schleich they were released at seperate times, but still...

Thanks! Is that true? scratch We have the opposite here - not sure about the offspring count here though

Today I recieved the last of my June additions. This month has been a very good month for my collection!

Two animals arrived, one new species that I saw for the first time whilst on holiday in Suffolk Very Happy

And a very, very special model that is the best replica of an animal I have ever seen. Shocked If it wasn't for it's small size it may have had to go through quarantine.

I will post images tomorrow as I am always busy throughout Mondays and it is late now and I'm tired Sleep

Very Happy

A copy :) I would never want to take an origional copy away. The painting here is different from the version in Anna's thread. Thanks!

I don't know how Yourself and Anna produce what you do!

I've had the same problem with that Muntjac figure. It's quite delicate. But -- at least in my experience -- it will stand on a completely flat, smooth surface. The worst figures in terms of having them stand -- again, in my experience -- are some of the Noah's Pals. The Ostriches (the female especially) will barely stand and the Roans are pretty unstable. Even the Noah's Pals Muntjacs are a little wobbly.

Enough of my ramblings though. Once again, Steve, your Muntjac and the Snow leopard are fantastic. Congratulations!!

Good to know Scot. Are they made of similar material to the muntjac? I have trouble with some of my two legged dinos but fortunatley none of my animals other than this one.

Thanks again!

Hi Steve. The noah's pals seem to be made from a soft, pliable plastic; not like the Kaiyodo. This helped because I was able to work with the female ostrich's legs and now she can stand for a couple minutes before falling over (rather than not being able to stand at all). The Kaiyodos, with that really hard plastic, cannot be adjusted it seems. From what I can tell, the problem with the Kaiyodo Muntjac is that the legs are so thin, so close together (and of course on is lifted, so that only three are on the ground). Kaiyodo seems to have sacrificed stability for realism. I'm guess I'm fine with that trade-off: the muntjac is beautiful in part precisely because those legs are thin and aren't spread far apart.

I'm happy with the trade-off too! I don't want to force anything incase it breaks, so it'll stay leaning.

Thanks for the info and pitty about your ostrich. Have you ever thought of gluing it to a base? It just popped in my head - I remember a similar topic on DTF.

Huh, that's an interesting idea (gluing it to a base). Honestly, it had never even crossed my mind before, so I'm glad you raised the possibility. I'm not sure I would do it just because I get nervous about making any serious changes to the figures as they are, but I going to give this some more thought. Thank you so much for suggesting the idea Steve!

No problem! Well I hope it works if you choose to do something

I thought I'd give making a base for my muntjac a go. It's not glued on so theres no changes to the figure at all, easily lifts off.
