[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Have anybody a idea about the brand of the bullhead sharks and also of the yellow sharks? And an idea what is the species of the yellow sharks?

Thanks.

The Bullhead Sharks are from Colorata's set "Ocean Kingdom," released around 2002 (copyright is on the bottom of the figure). The yellow sharks are Zebra Sharks (Stegosoma fasciatum) (they are also sometimes also called Leopard Sharks, but are not related to the true Leopard Shark (Triakis semifasciata). This figure was also part of the Ocean Kingdom set. Looking at your picture, it looks like the two Scalloped Hammerhead figures also come from that set; the easiest way to tell is to look at the bottom of the figure. If the Copyright is 2002, it was part of the Ocean Kingdom, if the copyright is 2004, it is part of the Shark of the World set.

Also, in your picture, the Orca, Humpback Whale, Beluga, and Bottlenose Dolphin are definitely from the Ocean Kingdom set. The Pacific White-sided Dolphin, Commerson's Dolphin, Black-tipped Reef Shark, and Whale Shark most likely are, too.

In the cases of the Ocean Kingdom Scalloped Hammerhead, Black-tipped Reef Shark, Whale Shark, and Commerson's Dolphin they are pretty much exactly the same as the Sharks of the World figures and Marine Mammals of the World figures, only slightly larger in all respects. I much prefer the Ocean Kingdom versions of the Beluga, White-sided Dolphin, and Bottlenose Dolphin over the Marine Mammals of the World set figures (copyright 2004). Also, Ocean Kingdom had an awesome looking Great White that I very much liked, and prefer that to the Sharks of the World figures.

Again, the copyright is the key. 2002 = Ocean Kingdom. 2004 = Sharks of the World or Marine Mammals of the World.

Yes. I'll try tomorrow to post them, as I have them on a different computer. I was fortunate enough to have stumbled upon the great ebay seller UDF in like 2004/05. His store was an absolute mecca for all the Japanese animal figures available at the time. He sold them all individually for about $5 - $7 a piece, and he included detailed information in the listings about each figure, like the brand, the set it came from, the year of production, the model number... I really miss him. He disappeared in 2006 or early 2007, apparently due to deteriorating health. But in the short time I bought from him, he was very educational about these figures and companies. He also took really good pictures of the figures, man of which I still use as references.

Anyway, I'll try to post pictures tomorrow. Sorry for getting off topic haha.

I bought my first Japanese stuff from UTF, he helped me to discover all those great brands too Wink

Alas, at the end he had health problems indeed and forget sometimes to send the parcels. I lost nearly $100 on the last batch Crying or Very sad

But it was a great period for me Very Happy

I promised to post pictures of the Colorata Ocean Kingdom Figures. Sorry for the delay. These pictures I think came from when I purchased them from ebay seller UDF, so I didn't actually take them myself. I have most of the figures, packed away right now, but if someone needs to see a better picture of them, I could probably get them out in a couple of days or so.

They made really fantastic models, luckaly, and thanks to Christophe i own a few of then now! cheers
I like those Japanese sets very much, very accurate, with great detail and information about the species most of the times.
But as i don't like to use paypal, my possibilities to get those are very limited.
Sad that a good seller had to end(and maybe forgood) this way, it is a great loss for us collectors, and even a loss in money for some us to, sadly enough... Crying or Very sad

No problem. I only remember the original Endangered Mammals set and the original Discover! Dinosaurs set; the Endangered Mammals set is actually fairly common on Ebay these days. I don't own that entire set, only the Red Panda, Cheetah, Amur Tiger, and Aye-Aye. The Discover! Dinosaurs set contained a T. rex, Spinosaurus, Allosaurus, Velociraptor, Pteranodon, Dimetrodon, Brachiosaurus, Triceratops, and Stegosaurus. I don't have all of them, only the T. rex, Spino, Allo, raptor, Pteranodon, and Dimetrodon.

Colorata's done some really nice figure sets over the years. I'd love for them to make some more, and faster :)
