| I am very happy that we chose aome insects this time The Apocrita are a suborder of insects in the order Hymenoptera. It includes wasps, bees, and ants, and consists of many families. It contains the most advanced hymenopterans and is distinguished from Symphyta ( = sawflies )by the narrow "waist". Please let me show you most of mine [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Bullyland made the most charming little flock from 1998 - 2005. from top left : Drone bee, wasp, queen bee, worker bee, and bumble bee. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Seen from above perhaps you get a better impression. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]An unmarked bee, the Schleich mini bee, and a gorgeous wasp, which Kosta gave to me...I just can't remember the brand [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]My bees from Safari : Toob, Authentics bumblebee from 1995, and bee from the lifecycle series. The "Lifecyvćle-bee" was also sold as an Incredible Creatures for a short period [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]with the lifecycle set. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]My complete collection of ants : Fire Ant from Safari Hidden Kingdom series, Safari insects toob, and a cute little ant from Bullyland's micro series I look forward to se your bees, wasps and ants also, - even if they are the same as mine |

This wasp is by Blip Toys in their Natures Wonders HD series. I believe it is meant to be the European paper wasp, Polistes dominula. This is an interesting thread as there is only one hymenopteran figure I am aware of that is not in Apocrita, that being the raspberry horntail by Play Visions. I will see what I can add and how I will present them... |

| Has anyone ever made a turtle ant (Cephalotes) worker? With that weird head, it's criminal if they haven't! _________________ Where I try to find the best figure of every species: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| I am glad of seeing that it is being a suyccessful topic. I know from the Blaine's bug of the day that he has a lot of these and it is great to see how they're being sorted here but I didn't know other friends had so many of these. I don't have a single figure to contribute but I am really enjoying a lot. |

Thankyou I understand why, - it looks very cute. I like this critter even if it is only a "chinamal" |

| My version was from this set: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]but I have seen variants used many times, and 'copies' at a variety of sizes. It is good enough to be attributable to a honey bee (Apis mellifera), at least! |
