A Question about Giraffe Variations 14320 Empty
PostSubject: A Question about Giraffe Variations 14320   A Question about Giraffe Variations 14320 EmptyFri Mar 23, 2012 2:47 am

Can anyone tell me more about "variations" of the same animal? I've seen this many time, but most recently in the case of the Schleich Female Adult Giraffe. There is this paint job (I think it is the "normal" one):

And then there is this one:

(I actually prefer the latter, despite the eyelashes. I like the warmer tones a lot.)

What is going on exactly? I'm really curious to know what Schleich is doing, what their reasons are, how they go about generating these variations, do they announce them? etc. Anyone have any information on this? (Many thanks in advance!)

best,
Scott

And here

It seems that there are both difference in the painting of the ones before and after 2009, when new family member came, and the size of the ones made in Germany and China Very Happy alien Very Happy

Schleich has produced 3 groups of giraffes over the years.

1st group
The first giraffe is 14028 in 1989.
In 1994, this giraffe was joined by 2 group members: 14094 and 14099.
From that moment on, the paint of the earlier released model (14028) got adjusted to the new ones.

2nd group
In 1999, the 1st group was replaced by a new group: 14147, 14149 and 14161.
This whole 2nd group is painted in the same way, but different from the 1st group.

3rd group
In 2004, the 2nd group retired and the first 2 models of the new, 3rd group were released: 14320 and 14321. These two again had a different way of painting from the 2nd and 1st group.
In 2008, the first 2 of the 3rd group were joined by 2 others: 14389 and 14390.
From that moment on, the paint of the 2 earlier released models in this group was adjusted to the 2 new ones.

This explains the variants!
