PostSubject: I'm getting excited about India/Asia so here are some of the animals   I'm getting excited about India/Asia so here are some of the animals EmptySun Apr 04, 2010 6:24 pm

Like the title says, I am getting excited about the Indian / Asian diorama, it will be a while before I begin to work on it full speed, but I am getting the animals together, both custom and brand name, as well as some of The trees, Danny sold me a fig tree, it should be here very soon, as in later this week. I am excited about it and can not wait to see it in person, so photos will be up by next weekend if all goes as planned.

Well, here are just a few of the animals, I put them in the Shcleich beech tree just for the photographs, but the selection of animals comes from many sources. There are custom by Ana antelope, nilgai and blackbuck, there are some Japanese models from Futura / Choco, some Bandai, and the American company from the 70's Marx. There is also a gabbon that I'm not sure if it is K & M or ELC, but a nice model none the less. The Choco cats are a little big, but I have the Colorata one that is the correct size, it is just that I like the pose of these two, having caught a turtle but can not get into the shell, so even though they are big for the scale I may use them anyway.

I am just going to post the pics, first is on the ground, if there is a particular model you want to ask about please do, I will give you as much information on the figure as I can. Also if anyone has any unusual species or a pose I do not have I am very interested in a trade or purchase, for instance I want a whole troop of langurs, right now I have two, they are grooming eachother, but I would love to have 5 or 6.

Here is the hornbill and the gabbon in the tree

Here is a shot full of as much as I could fit in the frame

And finally the langurs, I could not get them in the angles from the other shots

Hope you enjoy, and please make comments and suggestions, that is the only way I can be as successful as I am, I am too close so I do not see everything. I have made so many improvements to the African diorama because of you that the results are vastly improved and I am so grateful.

You have a good start for the next diorama as we can see here Phil.
And a good start is half of the work.
It is good, that you made contact with Danny on those things, because you both are on the same track more or less to make your collectors dreams come true!
Danny for his zoo, and you for your diorama's.

Does Danny have a site with pictures of his Zoo? I'd like inspiration for the zoo I will build in the near future.

Kiki, you can't do that to me, I am looking for the clouded leopard, the Playvision probiscus monkey and the starlux langur. Do you have any idea where I could get any of those 3 models? I have a lot to trade, and have no problem buying any of the three, but I have been looking for them for a while, especially the clouded leopard. Any help on this would be worth several favors, besides the trade or sale itself. If I can't find the leopard, Ana will make one for me, the same goes for the monkeys, but I eventually want a troop of langurs, could you give me their size, maybe a photo of them together with a common Schleich figure so I can see what they look like in scale.

Again, I am very greatful for your keeping your eyes out for me, and if there is something I can do for you in return please don't hesitate to ask, even if you don't find any of the figures, I just appreciate the fact that you are thinking of ways to make my diorama better.

To my knowledge, Danny has no site, where his work is to be seen yet, besides from a forum i was much in the past.
But maybe he wants to show us here some of his progress... Laughing

Those Japanese figurines are standing out of some modern makers!
I guess every collector of animal-figurines wants them to have... What a Face

Kiki, I forgot to ask, I am thinking about ordering the Colorata set of Endangered animals, the one that includes the orangatang in the first photo. When you send the photos of the animals with a Schleich figure could you include that one as well, I don't need the orangatang, but the fruit bat and gliding animal are two that I would like to include in the diorama. I have an Indian fruit bat, but a flock of flying ones would be very cool for the display.

I also have the Playvisions crested macaque, but I am looking for other poses of them, They are native to Sulawesi, so I am not going to use it in the diorama, but for a future scene it might be really nice to have a few.

Thanks again for everything,
Phil

Some more pics with my Schleich assistant
First, the Colorata orang-utan
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

About the orang-utan, I don't know why you don't need her because she is in a very good scale for your dio Very Happy

The Endangered set is really great, and you can easily use the thylacine and koala in a 1/20 dio
