| Last Saturday, I was at a flea market and found this little panda (12650-1) from Schleich. He is 6cm high and marked with Schleich. First, I thought it belongs to the Classics animals, but I did not find him at the Gascher's catalog by the "classics". Finally, I found it by the Vanishing Wild animals also at Gascher´s catalog. But the Vanishing Wilds animals are all much larger and marked with "Safari Ltd". Is my Panda really from the Vanishing series ? You find it by Gaschers on page 310. Panda 12650-1 from Schleich with the tiger from Vanishing Wild (Safari Ltd.). [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]_________ Yvette |

| That VW panda and his friend, rolling on the back was sold by Schleich from 1982 to 1986 and is EXTREMELY rare. Yvette is only the 3rd person I have heard of, who has it Gascher estimates the price to app 25 Euros, but I think you may put a zero behind that |

| Oh, thanks Susanne, I don´t know that! But I thing also, it has nothing to do with "Vanishing Wild", how Gascher´s catalog says. I would say, the panda belongs more to the classic animals. I found in the web some infos too: These panda was designed by the internationally renowned animal sculptor Helmut Diller, who had also designed the WWF animals (15001 - 15006) for Schleich. That's a big surprise for me and a big luck. __________ Yvette |

| Yes, those WWF were also made from 82 - 86 !!!! Why didn`t I think about that It is easy to see that they were made from the same artist [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I am not sure they belong with the classics, they are not at all the same style Perhaps they are rather an "appendix" to the WWFs ? It could be fun if somebody had the catalogues from that time, so we could see where Schleich had them Anyway, yes! This little panda has more to him than may meet the eye |

| A HUGE congratulations on findings this wonderful panda. I have searched high and low for it. I believe it is more of a classics panda than Vanishing Wild. I have the lying one, but am still looking for the sitting one. If you look closely, you can see the lying one in my picture. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Oh, your collection! I have dicovered your panda What a dream, and I hope we can see soon some new pictures of your famous building! Many thanks for the pictures. You are right, I also thing it belongs more to the "Classics" and not to the Vanishing Wild, because they are not from Safari. So I have asking Gascher´s, why they are shown in the catalog by the "Vanishing Wilds". Now I have an answer from Frank Oswald/ Gascher´s. Here is his answer, I try to translate his :Many thanks for your interest. Probably you are right, and the Panda characters do not belong to the "Vanishing Wildlife" figures. We have most of our information from old Schleich-dealers-catalogs. In these catalogs, the pandas were offered together with the Safari figures - under the heading/category "Vanishing Wildlife" Many greetings from Munich Frank Oswald GASCHer‘s Here is the original answer in German from Mr. Oswald/Gaschers: On 23.05.2012 12:57, wrote GASCHer's: > [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]> > Liebe Schleich Freundin, > danke für Ihre Anfrage. > Vermutlich haben Sie recht, und die Panda-Figuren gehören nicht zu den "Vanishing Wild" Figuren. > Wir haben den Grossteil unserer Information aus alten Schleich Händler-Katalogen. > In diesen Katalogen wurden die Pandas zusammen mit den Safari Figuren angeboten - unter der Rubrik "Vanishing Wild". _________________ Yvette _________________ Yvette

| Yes, I do believe the other panda is from Tao Tao collection.
Thanks for the letter from Gascher. We know they weren't accurate on all their information. I have uploaded quite a few photos of my building. Feel free to go over and take a look. |
