Congratulation Wildheart :)
The capybara is very nice model, even when the legs a little long.
What you can do from this model with new paint, for example you see [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

Ralf, your capybara is twice as good as mine!I considered it all the time as ''the most professional way to repaint a bad made in China figurine''.

Here is the photo which guided me:

Wh, you are right, Ralf is a great painter ! But it doesn't mean you can't repaint if you can't reach Ralf's level...

Your's are far better than the original and it is the most important I guess Wink

For the start very well done, WH. :) I can only subscribe to the view to Amy, Harriet and Christophe. It's definitely an improvement on the original models. :) The capybara has come fresh from the water, as is the glossy color ok, but otherwise I recommend matte color almost always.

What is "wi-fi"??? Sorry, my English is very modest! Embarassed

I completely cheked the paint barrels before buying them!I took:
-red-brown glossy paint
-dark brown matte paint

I used both for the capybara, but it turned out way too glossy!

The belly and the toes, the flatest areas, are still yellowy. Can you give me a tip on how to better apply paint there?

Also I need help with the feathers(grey tones) of the bird.Because most of the time my grey mix(black and beige) was over,I had to create a new stack, so the bird has many areas differently coloured.I have to buy a pure grey colour, but I can't create the plumage effect!

PS everyone:I have finished my newest creation-the yellow-spotted salamander.
I will post photos when I get home.

I've only customised model horses, a few Schleich but mostly Breyer horses, and to get the shading correct, I have to do many thin layers of paint.

I water the paint down until it is the consistency of milk. This makes it easier to apply and the layers also dry quicker. Also makes it easier to blend and to do mapping on a Piebald.

Shading can be a pain, especially on a bay horse, but the results at the end are worth it :)

To do small areas, such as horse eyes, I use a brush which I have altered. I take a small brush and cut away at it until there is one single bristle left. I only do this on a cheap paint brush or it would be a total waste of a brush and money.

I really like your Capybara cheers

Great first attempt WH!
They look much better then the originals now, you just need some practice, and the results will show in time!

I found out that Revell paint contains a lot of email, which makes figurines glossy!
The capybara is the last one to be painted with those colours. From now on-only Louvre acrylics!

PS:The salamander was finished before the capybara's second look.
Still Revell paint on it.(no more,I promise Razz Wink)

I like the repaint of the capybara. I like that color better. The salamander looks great too. Such a sad little puppy.
