VEB Plaho lot came in for april 2010

Yesterday, i had this lot of VEB Plaho from the former DDR coming in.
I won several items from this German guy, but his wife did put them back on there again in one or the other way.
Good that those items were not expensive...
But ok, i made a deal with him to send me some other stuff from the same brand.
Well, it turned out, that i had only one new model for my collection(a lioncub), the other ones are just variations for me, and two ended up as doubles, as they looked exactly the same with the ones i already had.
It was very common in this company, to use the plastics and materials they had in stock at that particular moment.
Besides that, they didn't clean up the moulds very well, which those kind of things, this led to many colour-variations.
Another thing was, that they did put some paint on the models, and sometimes completely nothing...

And the chicks, from which i doubt that they are made by Plaho, but there must be a relation, as they are always sold together with Plaho items..., so at leat made in the DDR i guess.

They are nice, I like the Dromedaries and the lion cub rolling on her back is very cute. Are they britains scale?

Yes, most of these VEB Plaho figurines are in the same scale as Britains(1:32), but some models are moving in the 1:25 direction, like the lioncubs or Hamydras baboons.

Very nice, Willy. I feel that VEB Plaho is an underrated line; kind of like Britains, Ltd., only better.

I am afraid, that is not always the case.
Britains is more regular in their works, and the quality is higher in most of the models.

But for that, VEB Plaho made nice positions, and not un-important..., they bought the moulds of the old Lineols when they stopped to produce, so much of the models are smaller copies of the earlier Lineols.
Plaho used always the materials they had at the moment, so the models came in many colour-variations, and the moulds were not always as clean as they should be for the new production...

I agree, middling results but some very fine sculpting. Some of the models that aren't LINEOL copies are very fine like the dromedaries, Bactrian camels, hippopotamus and mooses

Yes, i agree, overall they are good quality for the small prices you have to pay for them. :)
