Because i came in spain regularly, because one of my older brothers lives there, i can talk about Spanish beer with you...
San Miguel is not the worst i must say, Mahou is dreathfull!
But they have Aguila too, which is from the same brewery as Amstel(which is from the Heineken brewery too these days) in Holland, exactly the same etiket, but only the different name, not bad too, but not the same because it is brewed in Spain.
But when i drink beer over there, i prefer Heineken import, a little bit more expensive(and mainly for the Spanish...), but it is soo much better to drink. drunken

Hello Willy. San Miguel available here in the USA is brewed in the Phillippines, which is why Ronald mentioned it, I believe. It is Spanish-owned, but originated in the Phillippines. I think it is also brewed now in Hong Kong. Heineken is world-famous, but when I was younger, we drank Grolsch, but my favorite Dutch beer would be Oranjeboom.

Haha, now that is strange...
Grolsch beer is very populair on certain people here, specially in the eastern parts of Holland, and it is still in their own hands.
The brewery is not so far from me, and i was there one time with a group of people from a bar, and we had a very good time! drunken

Oranjeboom is not very populair around here, but i worked in a Grand Cafe where they had it on the tap ,and then it is not so bad.
The last 10 years it is more populair again, as they advertise very much.
Original it came from Rotterdam, and the brewery was seated at the Oranjeboomstreet over there...
Nowerdays, it is owned by two bigger companies from Brazil and Belgium.

To me, from a can, Heineken is still the best, as their quality is the same around the world.
From the tap is the German Warsteiner certainly one of the best.
In bottles that can be much beers...
In Germany they have the so called "Reinheitsgebot" , which means that the brewery is not allowed to use chemicals to make their beers more durable...
This gives their beers a much better taste, but for that, you can't keep it good that long, it is what you want.

In the southern part of Holland(Limburg), there is a little brewery, called "Ridder Bier" , which has a very nice beer too, almost same as Warsteiner...

Hi Willy, yesterday your avatar was the bottle of San Miguel Beer and of course, I recognized it. And I am not saying this because I am a Filipino but this beer is also popular worldwide. Especially if it is served iced-cold with a bowl of sizzling hot Dinuguan as what Phil mentioned or with a very nice Thin-crust Shakey's Pizza. Very Happy

Crazy and frightening, Christophe. Would you drink wine from a can? Champagne? I didn't think so. We must help Willy, before it's too late... Laughing
