Is this polar bear a copy ??????

One of my friends found this lovely little polar bear, and she was kind enough to let me buy him

Look, except for the tail and painting, it is just like the Schleich one, only smaller !
It does not have any marking whatsoever.

It is not the bear 12069, he is much smaller, and also very different :

Does anyone know anything about this bear ?

Too true schleich61. With loss of their Arctic habitat Polar bears will head south and gradually over generations they will become "brown" bears"!

Welly like others before them think they can turn a Polar bear into a brown bear by painting it brown. And I am sure other companies have performed the reverse.

Still for collectors of animal figures these variations make for interesting additions.

Yes, Chris, there is, very sadly, a germ of horrible truth in this. Here in the USA, many zoos have yellowish polar bears, which I have read is attributable to our generally non-polar climate's temperatures.

However, having grown up for many years in the neo-arctic city of Rochester, NY, I think polar bears might stand a fighting chance there. I remember one year we had a big blizzard on June 3rd...
