| A local shop was selling off some of the discontinued action figures from the film "The Golden Compass". So we bought a few. They have given us ... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]... eight useful animals .... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]...seven poseable people for photoshoots .... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.](we used one in our recent "Goatyard" post) .... | Hello Sue, could you give me some information on the two squirrels in the second photo? How big are they, are any more available from the store and at what price? I have an interest in them for something specific and they look really good from you photo but I would need them to be the correct size to work.
Thanks, Phil

Phil, we are old women, and those are old squirrels! They are made in pewter and come from a range of forest animals and their young which were sold unpainted in souvenir shops throughout Britain for about five years in the 1970's. The makers encouraged buyers to paint them themselves. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Upright pewter squirrel (3cm tall) with Papo squirrel (4cm from ground to tail-top). [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]We have three of these pewter pairs in our Ark: Otters, Squirrels and Toads. Sue & Lesley castlerigg

Thanks for the info, too bad, at 3 cm it would have been a really nice fit for my idea, but still thanks for the better photos. I love the otters as well, and you did a great job painting them.

Great new additions ladies! You two must have an incredible collection of so much different brands! I recognize a wolf, snow leopard, a long eared hare, an ermine, a wild cat, a warthog... But what is the bird? A parrott? And what species is the monkee or ape? Animals made in pewter is rare already, although some of us do have some models made in metal of course(Britains and so on), specially other oldies between us... Stoat is a typical English mane for that little predator i believe, it is called ermine too, brown in the summer, and white in the winter, just the tip of the tail is black, and found in many Royal clothes...

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Willy, the bird is a crow, standing, with wings outspread. The monkey is no known species. The original artist's concept for the film ... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]... is like a Langur with aspects of a Marmoset. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]By the look of our small model, it may have been given a prehensile tail to help with its villainous role. Sue & Lesley castlerigg

Yes, i think you are right about this monkee. It looks like a mix of a golden lion-marmosette, and a langur indeed...
