I mentioned the clouded leopard, but you are right - there are these as well. I was going by memory. |

Then is a set of more than 8 figures? |

| Some of the figures like the jaguar and the puma and the cheetah may have been in other sets - the S.A., N.A. and African tubes respectively. Many figures overlapped. A number were grouped together in the catalog as Wild Cats, but quite frankly I don't remember specificly which ones were. I didn't know I would be quizzed 10 years later. :)
Generally speaking sets included 8 figures.
Speaking of which, have the starfish been listed yet? |

| Bees, Wasps, and Hornets Nudibranchs (Sea Slugs) Flea, Lice and Ticks this is getting weirder and weirder which is of course just FANTASTIC !!it seems there IS indeed a set of moray eels and sea snakes. I found this awesome breathtaking picture gallery: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.](hope it's ok to link it here, "hijacked" it from a different forum) It seems the cats still need some research for sorting them out to the proper sets. Does anyone know what the North American set contains (maybe the bobcat is to place there?) I'm somewhat missing an Australian set, there would be so many nice and unusual little critters besides usual red giant kangaroos and koalas. Referring the starfish - I ordered a set of starfish at veghead com, but have no idea if those are the PVs ones (well they are at least a set of eight, so I thought I give it a try). If they ever send my order, I will write down this set as soon as I have them in my hands. Same with the spiders. edit: had again a look at the starfish picture and I'm pretty sure they are NOT PV, quality looks too poor. Well then, nice gift for the kids...

| I also think there's another set of Frogs (or more overall: amphibians?) beside the Poison Dart Frogs?
Found at least those: Southern Corroboree Frog - Pseudophryne corroborree 2002, Malayan Horned Frog - Megophrys nasuta 2002 - and believe that one belongs here, too: Red-eyed Tree Frog - Agalychnis callidryas 2002 (maybe it belongs to both sets?)
And I sorted out the scarlet crab. Indeed it's a Sally lightfoot or Red Rock Crab which lives on Galapagos. So I'm rather sure it belongs to this set. Does someone know more about the items in this this set, I found only frigatebird and Crab in that one so far. There surely belong sea lizards here, too. Maybe turtle?
And still searching a home set for the manta ray - release date is 1998.

| well I ordered those spiders and those seastars, so I will see. You're probably right about the spiders. What makes me doubting the sea stars is that four and four of them have exactly the same shape. I guess PV would have more variety in forms, like a serpent star or so. |

- Bears year?
Does this contain only six species? Maybe the polar bear was in this set too? Listed it, but if there were eight, still one species missing - Sun Bear - Ursus Malayanus - Spectacled Bear - Tremarctos ornatus - Grizzly - Ursus arctos horribilis - Black Bear - Urus americanus - Panda Bear - Ailuropoda melanoleuca - Sloth Bear - Melursus ursinus - Polar Bear - Ursus maritimus (Arctic set, but maybe here too?)
Cats 1996 This one is a bit hard to sort out. The first six surely belong here, the other cats probably to other sets. But I guess there were also 8 species, so either two are missing or some of the others were also in this very set, that's why I listed them here, too. - Mountain lion - Puma concolor - Caracal - Caracal caracal - Serval - Leptailurus serval - Bobcat - Lynx rufus - Snow leopard - Panthera uncia - Clouded Leopard - Neofelis nebulosa Jaguar - Panthera onca (1999 - south american set) Leopard - Panthera pardus (1999 - African set) Cheetah - Acinonyx jubatus (serengeti set) Lioness - Panthera leo (1999 - to Africa set?)
Dogs (canines) 1996 or 1999? Different years for different dogs. Or do they belong to other sets? I know spotted hyena is Africa set - Spotted hyena - Crocuta crocuta - Tüpfelhyäne (1999) - Bat-eared fox - Otocyon megalotis - Löffelhund (1999) - Striped Hyena - Hyaena hyaena (1996) - Raccoon dog - Nyctereutes procyonoides - Marderhund (1996) - Maned Wolf - Chrysocyon brachyurus - Grey Wolf - Canis lupus - Red Fox - Vulpes vulpes - Coyote - Canis latrans
Lizards 1995 (?) - Gila Monster - Heloderma suspectum - Marine Iguana - Amblyrhynchus cristatus - Nile Monitor - Varanus niloticus - Frilled Lizard - Chlamydosaurus kingii - Green Basilisk - Basiliscus plumifrons - Veiled Iguana (could this be Helmeted Iguana - Corytophane Cristatus?) - Thorny Devil - Moloch horridus - Rhinoceros Iguana - Cyclura cornuta
Asian/Indian Animals 1998 - Gaur - Bos gaurus - Orang Utan - Pongo pygmaeus - Javan Rhino - Rhinoceros sondaicus - Asian Elefant - Elephas maximus - Gharial / Gavial - Gavialis gangeticus - Tiger - Panthera tigris (tigris?) - Dhole - Cuon alpinus - Axis Deer - Axis axis
South American Animals 1999 - Brazilian Tapir - Tapirus terrestris - (Brownthroated) Three Toed Sloth - Bradypus variegatus - Jaguar - Panthera onca - Green Anaconda - Eunectes murinus - Green Iguana - Iguana iguana - Southern Tamandua - Tamandua tetradactyla - Brown Howler Monkey - Alouatta fusca - Harpy Eagle - Harpia harpyja
I read the list again and I found some errors: - The eighth bear should be a Brown Bear, as seen in the Sbell collection that have the complete set - The Lioness was probably confused with the Puma, therefore, remain the Jaguar, Leopard and Cheetah for the cats set. I know two Jaguars from the same mold but with a different color scheme and one dated 1996 and one 1999, one of them is in this set. The problem is that I also have two Leopards dated differently and in different colors, but only one Cheetah. Therefore, I remember seeing the Cheetah in this set, and three Leopards (normal, Clouded and Snow) seem too much for one set, then I would say that the eighth is the Cheetah - Also the Bat-eared Dog should be from African set, then there's one dated 1996 and one 1999 - The Veiled Iguana is actually a Helmet Iguana, I was wrong to write the name - The Gharial fron Asian set is actually a False Gharial, same of the crocodiles set - I also know of a Boa Constrictor in the South American set, I think it was first sold, then replaced by the Anaconda |

| Hopefully every information you've posted (fantastic work!) so far is now in the listing. I also listed sets we don't know anything about except the category (thanks, jhudstone for your impressing memory!) - and maybe we can get some entries there one day. At least the north american set shouldn't be too complicate to complete? And another question. I bought this set recently on ebay: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]and the description says: The Serengeti National Park Series includes authentic models of these native animals: lion, giraffe, banded egyptian cobra, warthog, and the cheetah. Collect them all! Part of the National Parks of the World Collection. Which National Park sets would that be (besides a second serengeti set to complete the 8 animals)? |

| The reason is the viiverrids and herpestids are belonging to Feliformia while the Mephitids and mustelids to Caniformia... I would be difficult, even for PV, to make a mephitid serie and even more difficult to make an herpestid one The spotted hyena is from 1999 and is in the same style as the Sitatunga. The striped hyena is from 1996. Among 1999 products I have also a lioness... So maybe we could forget the mandrill in the African set. We already have two figures to add, the ostrich and lioness. And still no place for the pangolin and aardvark ! |

| about the ostrich: there's also a rooster with chicks and two different coloured geese with chicks, too. Maybe more, but those are the birds I know. Maybe there was something like a set "birds with chicks"?
I agree with the spotted hyena not belonging to the dog set. Mine has the date 1999, too - does anybody has one marked 1996? But what's the 8th dog then?
Placed the lioness in the serengeti set, since there is said to be a lion in it (and I thouhgt maybe it was the lioness). But it's not unlikely it belongs to the African set and I was wrong. Both sets are obviously from 1999 - which doesn't make this easier.
I'd really like to see this pangolin and aardvark - has somebody pics of these? |

Maybe those are from a National Park set. For example, in Lake Mburo you can find zebras, hippos, hyenas, pangolins, aardvarks, sitatungas, etc. So you can join them all in a set. |

| WOW! How did I miss this topic?! Anyway, back around 2003 I made a list of all the figures I could find at the time. It's not all inclusive, but after a quick glance at the list on the first page, I can provide the following:
EXOTIC BEETLES - I have a picture of this set somewhere; once I find it, I'll post it w/ additonal info. Carrion Beetle Weevil (Eupholus sp.) Fungus Beetle Goliath Beetle (Goliathus sp.)
