Thank you gentlemen I love you

Tylo, these models were all cast from dead animals....so the "bulge" must have been there on the original animal too, not something that was added afterwards Razz

Nothing too special, just a new gecko to join the family Very Happy I got this guy from Tapir and Friends Animal Store, and even though they're US based, this figure arrived in good time. This store gets a thumbs up from me [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I think this guy is a leaf tailed gecko, one of these?
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Hey all,
nice collection. i also do collect larger casted reptile figurines. Despite colouration is wrong in nearly every case, casts of real animals are best to make them realistic,...
Unfortunately, some of them make it obvoious that the pose isn't natural and changed postmortem,....
Some even show signs of big wounds (AAA bluetongue skink).
Another thing:
the safari "emerald tree monitor" isn't one,....
You can easily see this especially when you take a look at the tail.
I expect some of the big AAA casts being young V.salvator or V.bengalensis as they're trapped and skinned for leather usage an so dead specimens are easily available. But i didn't count scales yet,....

i really like the leaf-tailed gecko.which i also identify as uroplatus spp. rather thatn Phyllurus platurus as sometimes referred to.

Thanks for your input, that was interesting to read. I love reptile figures, but I confess I am no expert. I really just collect them for their beauty. I do find it very interesting when people are able to identify them correctly.

Poor things, that doesn't sound nice Sad And the Safari "Emerald Tree Monitor" is a beautiful figure, but the painted on eyes and cheesy smile look terrible to me Embarassed

Your comment about the blue tongued skink sounded kinda grisly Shocked Do you have a photo of the wound? I'd be interested in seeing what you were referring to.

The worst of these is the AAA Parson's Chameleon, one of the three biggest such species worldwide. The AAA version is badly emaciated.
Why is is so skinny? Was it like that when it died? Crying or Very sad Or was the specimen decomposed and shrivelled?

AAA chameleon, in a tripod pose cheers This is one of the figures I don't think was cast from a real specimen. Still a nice sculpt though.

You're welcome, glad you enjoyed them cheers

I assume it was also a cast from a dead specimen. It probably wasted away and died from a bacterial infection or parasitic (most likely worm) condition. Many non-captive bred chameleons have parasitic worms in their alimentary canals which need to be treated by a veterinarian. Just another reason not to buy animals plucked from the wild..
Awww poor thing Sad Thanks for sharing that info btw, I would not have not known that otherwise.
