AAA does indeed have good Lizards, for toys they do make nice ones indeed, although I still prefer Kaiyodo as details go, even due to their small size :) That Kaiyodo green lizard you have is very nice and very well detailed Cool
Still I hope you get that 40 inch AAA Monitor Lizard, it's just a shame that the shipping is always so overrated.

Well I guess that is your opinion, but I don't understand how you can say Kaiyodo have better details than AAA. AAA are are cast from real life animals (which are the best reference of all) so no sculpted figure can compete. Saying that Kaiyodo have better details is like saying that they're more realistic than the real life animal...which is impossible :X scratch

I like Kaiyodo too of course I love you I love you I love you

It's actually not a snapper but a Big-headed turtle - Platysternon megacephalum.
did you see the enormous scar of the bluetongue? starting from the huip? the paintjob is wrong, don't identify animals by compairing clouration. Tiliqua spp. also inhabit territories outside australia and as visitors of reptile exporters told me, they're collected and mix there,..so various scincoides-like gigas exist and new gigas subspecies. As you can see, i keep a certain form myself, the male is more than 60cm in length,...

Thanks for the clarification. I'm aware that AAA's identification of these animals tends to be wrong, but I just called it "snapping turtle" because that was what was written on the belly of the toy.
The "scar" on the Blue Tongue actually looks more like a casting defect than a scar, at least to me.

Great looking collection TQ! I love the AAA reptiles! Their snakes are pretty awesome, too. Is your lemon-colored monitor lizard hollow? I'm almost 100% sure I that there was a bootleg floating around out there, which pretty much looked like the lemon-colored figure. I could be wrong, but I think it was hollow. If it isn't hollow, it's possible that the mold AAA were using was starting to deteriorate and that is why it isn't as detailed. I don't ever recall AAA featuring such an unrealistic paintjob though - they may not get the coloration right for the species they intend to portray, but the paintjob typically looks realistic to the uninitiated.

The monitor lizards come in 3 or 4 sizes. They were originally sold as Water Monitors, Bengal Monitors, and Desert Monitors. (The following pictures are not my own. I'll try to grab some pix the next time I'm home longer than just to sleep haha)

Water Monitor / "Baby" Monitor - about 18" long - Brown version has been sold as a Desert Monitor and as a Water Monitor
[img][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][/img]
I have both the brown one here and the green one like you have. They are identical except for paintjob. Green one is usually sold as Emerald Tree Monitor, but definitely is not one.

"Juvenile" Water Monitor - about 26" long - Brown version is sandy colored and has small, white rosettes on its back. Was sold as a Water Monitor when I bought it. I also have the green version.
[img][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][/img]

Water Monitor - perhaps around 35" - I saw this for sale as both Water Monitor and again as Bengal Monitor. It has the same white rosettes on its back as the "Juvenile" brown version. In fact, it's very similar in every way to the open-mouthed version except it is MUCH bulkier and longer. (& obviously has its mouth closed).
[img][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][/img]

Desert Monitor / "Jumbo" Monitor - about 40" - this one is hollow inside, but still very solid construction. It used to always be sold as a Desert Monitor, but now I only see it listed as "Jumbo" Monitor.
[img][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][/img]
[img][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][/img]

I have all the brown versions, only the 18" & 26" green versions.

AAA also has a Tegu, Green Iguana, Tokay Gecko, and Solomon Islands Prehensile-tailed Tree Skink. I have all but the Green Iguana (I liked Safari's Incredible Creatures 40" version better)

Not to mention all the snakes...

I love AAA

sphyrna18, yes, the lemon coloured lizard is hollow.
I have seen all those variants you posted before, being the AAA maniac that I am Wink

Where did you get this figure?

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I have being searching for this variant for ages, I am desperate to get hold of this one. If you could show me where one is for sale, or perhaps would be willing to sell one yourself, you'd make a collector very happy :)
