PostSubject: Mangalarga's Breyers   Mon Dec 03, 2012 6:51 pm

I already mentioned them in my collection's topic, but I think this company really deserves a separate topic Cool

I will be posting here only OF (original finish) models, as I'm planning to customize them, especially the Stablemates - customs will go to a separate topic when I finally get to make some.

My first Breyers are:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Breyer SM 5929 Mustang (stallion), blue roan (very dark)
Breyer SM 5944 Sport Horse (gelding), chestnut pinto (I'd say frame overo + sabino)
Breyer SM 5955 Cob (gelding), dun

More photos: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

They are small (about the same size as Schleich foals) but quite detailed, and I haven't noticed any serious flaws in their conformation (like unnaturally narrow chest in some Collectas).
Their size seems to be the perfect scale for me, although I won't stop buying bigger models :)

Nice SM!

Do your cob stands well? I have the same mold but in the Friesian model and I had to add a bit of tail because he couldn´t stand. And even now it´s a bit inestable...

Great new additions, congrats! Those colors really make them stand out - the blaze on the rearing horse really makes all the difference. I especially love the jumper, such a nice shade of chestnut! Has Breyer finally given up on the overly metallic paintjobs then?

Thanks!

Sylvia - my cob is quite stable, his tail touches ground. I think it may vary in individual specimens.

Sumo - maybe Breyer still does metallic paintjobs on some models, I don't know, but these three are not metallic.

Mettalic paint? Few of my SM have this kind of paint on them and I like it :)

WOW! That was very nice of you to give you such a beauty cheers

She is SO lovely, even if I have a sort of problem getting used to see this former sturdy little hard-working mountain horse being turned into a lightly build riding pony scratch

Thanks! Yes, she's amazing in real life :)

Susanne, I'm going to repaint her and change her breed into more suitable one - maybe Welsh Cob D?

Wonderful! But i think the same as Susanne: too light for a Haflinger. Welsh Cob... I think that breed has a more compact body. In my opinion she could fit Garrano, a Portuguese breed:

I think she's a bit too heavy for a Garrano.
I was also thinking about Welsh Cob x Anglo-Arabian, like this mare:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Or just a grade horse, of unknown breeding - that could suit her the best, as she's a "big" (non-pony) horse in her scale - she's a bit bigger than my Safari Ltd. Blue Ribbon Friesian.

Oh, WC x AA would be great! The Angloarabian blood makes the Welsh Cob more lighter so it could fit well the crossbred. Good idea :)

No doubts that you know what to choose as a gift for yourself! Very Happy
The figure is beautiful as well as your idea. Though, I hope someday to see someone making a Garrano as Silvia suggested! flower

Who knows, maybe one day I'll make a Garrano custom? If only I can find enough good photos for reference, then why not? :)

Yes, why not? Once I am Portuguese it is not hard for me to find information and pictures about the breed. So, if you ever think in it you already know you can have my help if you want. Very Happy

The colt has very long legs as we see in real young creatures, isn't it? It gives him a fragile but sweet looking. Also it has some good movement on body too. Very Happy
The SM is a little geometrical but shows a lot of elegance due his disciplined pose. Congrats. Very Happy

I like your 2 newest additions, the SB and the foal :) I´ve read your blog, I have same moulds but different models (my SB is chestnut sabino, and my foal is Heartbreaker) and mine don´t have stability problems, neither the SB nor Heartbreaker.

I like your foal in OF, it´s a sweet, warm and deep dark coat hardly seen on OF model horses.

Nice figures, Magda! Curiously, you have mixed feelings about the dapple grey and I find that figure very beautiful! Very Happy The only thing I don't like is its boring pose. Very Happy
So, if you get tired of it just think in me! Laughing

Thanks! :)

Roger - his proportions are al least weird - too long legs, too short body, weirdly shaped croup, lack of details (other Stablemates are more detailed). I think after a few improvements he'll be a great model :)

Thanks! :)

Roger - his proportions are al least weird - too long legs, too short body, weirdly shaped croup, lack of details (other Stablemates are more detailed). I think after a few improvements he'll be a great model :)

OK, it will be great to see these improvements! Very Happy bounce

Your comments are not very positive about this horse! I find it serene and imposing at the same time. Though, I agree the sculpting would result better for a Akhal-teke! Thanks for sharing! Very Happy

Thanks everyone!

Cyhyraeth - he's very nice, though he could be better - but that's just me, the longer I collect and read/learn about horses, the more attention I pay to the tiniest details lol! Anyway, I recommend him very much!
