PostSubject: Lynx and Rhino repaints (for Pege)   Lynx and Rhino repaints (for Pege) EmptySun Dec 23, 2012 3:24 pm

Hi Philipp here's my 'before' and 'after' pics of the Schleich lynx and Collecta white rhino + calf. I don't have decent shots of 'before' so I hope these cutouts will do Embarassed

Before: This is actually a touch up before I started on the full repaint.

After: There's not much I did aside from repainting the coat and adding markings here and there. I'm very bad with painting markings on big cats so you can see the stripes are big and sloppy No

White Rhino
Before: I don't know why the manufacturers almost didn't paint the rhino. They only gave him a light brush of grey paint and two black dots for eyes Neutral

After:

Thanks for viewing! :)

thank you! the rhino is really amazing. The lynx is a little too white in my eyes but i realy like the way you painted the markings, especially those of the head,...!

Thanks to all! :)

Thanks for your feedback Philipp! I agree that the coat of the lynx is too light. I based it off the illustration from Carnivores of the World. Will see what can be done on this! Very Happy

Susanne: Thanks for the link! What a Face I didn't know Christophe made a walk around on the calf!!! cheers cheers

Thanks Ana! It wasn't really good though, I think I've confused the colours of a bobcat's with an Iberian lynx!! Not enough homework done before repaint!! Mad

I use acrylics, Christophe. And water-based matt varnish, because the last time I used a solvent based varnish the finished coating becomes sticky over time. Is it due to a chemical reaction or something like that?
