...and a new ladybug too!!!Very Happy
I know that someone in this forum will be very happy with a new insect!!!:)
...a new octopus too... Bye bye Schleich octopus!!!
Dinos and horses we already know, but I see a new deer? Suspect
No farm news, maybe, this Holstein cow is already known!Sad

Dear hunters of this forum, let's hunt the wild life and other news of this growing brand! Ostrich is very logical, the images are very small, is it a chick or a female?
Birds... I want more birds from the king of the birds... Procon CollectA to join my beautiful and colourful wings of the World from the king of the alegoric birds... Safari!
Mihnea I hope you are not right! CollectA is very nice in balance... you have a very small and heavy barn owl, with very small and curved "paws", without grass and able to stand upright!
Maybe you are thinking in Safari and its monumental tripods!!!:)
Schleich dinos are really prehistoric!!! Like my UKRD but with a modern price!Sad

Some of them are true masterpieces(ex:Torosaurus),while others...well...I doubt they can stay on 2 legs! Very Happy

Don't worry about this Mihnea, all the bipedal CollectA I have or saw stand perfectly on their two legs Wink

As far as I'm concerned Iw ill try to buy the Rhoemalosaurus, the fantastic dacentrurus, the kelenken, the proceratosaurus, the plateosaurus and attenborosaurus.

By the way, it seems there is a big improvement among the dino brand... I hope it will be the same for the wild, forest and sea brands Very Happy

I had contact with someone from Collecta recently who gave me info about that Third tree which I posted in the other thread. I then asked them to consider making more deer and antelope species and an Okapi and sent them a list of animals such as Addax,Gemsbok, Topi, Waterbuck, Bongo, Gaur etc.

They then wrote back stating that they will think over this and that some of the animals I have listed will be 'born' in 2012 and the 2013 so we will have some antelope from Collecta in the coming years and maybe more...yippeee!

Collecta are really changing in my opinion for the better and they are more or less the same scale as Schleich so would be great to have both companies producing different species side by side....

Those are great news!
And haven't they said when would they update their website with the new stuff?
Also, could you request the list of their figures to be discontinued in 2011?

PostSubject: Collect 2011 Confirmed Line-up : I received the new catalogue   Fri Jan 21, 2011 12:13 am

HI all

Firstly (before anyone moans at me) I have put this in a new thread so that non-frequent visitors can also pick up on this information as I realise that not every thread is looked at by all....

I have finally received the new 2011 Catalogue in A4 format thanks to someone at Collecta and can report back on what new animals are coming out.

I havent been able to take pictures because I have just come home late and opened my mail so will try to post some pics tomorrow. We have already seen the photos of the new dinosaurs so I wont mention them here.

FOSSILS:

There is a new range of dinosaur fossil claws and feet presented in pretty little boxes which may excite some of you. Its a new range tacked onto their dinosaur line-up.

HORSES:

There are 12 new horse models coming out, however there are actually 6 new horse models sculpts if that makes sense. 6 different horse types have been created but there are two colour variations for each horse. The pairs with the same sculpts are as follows:

Tennessee Walking Horse - Stallion Bay Pinto
Tenessee Walking Horse - Stallion Golden Palomino

Tenessee Walking Horse - Foal Black
Tenessee Walking Horse - Foal Chestnut

Arabian Mare Golden Chestnut
Arabian Mare Grey

Lusitano Stallion Buckskin
Lusitano Stallion Grey

Thoroughbred Mare Bay
Thoroughbred Mare Black

Andalusian Stallion Grey
Andalusian Stallion Bay

Collecta horse are 'slimmer' than Schleich horses and come in more playful poses rather than just standing still like Schleich ones.

FARM LIFE:

Friesian Cow
Freisian Bull eating
Freisian calf-suckling
Freisian calf standing

Chicks
Chicks hatching
Ducklings

Black Angus Bull
Red Angus Bull - both are the same sculpt

WILDLIFE:

Ostrich standing (male colouring as opposed to female colouring, the dad has two babies and no mother!)
Ostrich chick sitting
Ostrich chick walking

Chimpanzee female
Chimpanzee cub hugging
Chimpanzee cub thinking
chimpanzee male

Asian elephant (really good sculpt!)
Asian elephant baby

Snow Leopard
Snow leopard cub playing
snow leopard cub running (I really like this family and we havent had any good snow leopards until now!)

WOODLAND FOREST LIFE:

Red Squirrel Eating
Hedgehog

Red Deer Stag bellowing
Red Deer Hind
Red Deer Calf

INSECTS:

Ladybird
Bumblebee

CATS & DOGS:

St Bernards dog

3-Colour House Cat Stretching
3-Colour House Cat Sitting

SEALIFE:

Sea Lion - I love this model, it is really detailed and in a brilliant pose/sculpt.
Octopus - looks like Schleichs that was just retired lol

Manatee family - Again FANTASTIC! We havent had good manatee models by anyone until now. I love the sculpting, they are quite detailed and realistic in my opinion. I really really hope they are Schleich scale. I dont have a single Collecta model but I tell you the manatee is on my wants list:

Manatee Mother
Manatee baby swimming
Manatee baby sitting

Whale Shark - looks like Schleichs again

WARRIORS / HEROES:

Hercules

Nothing else new other than that. Will try to put up pictures. Lookins at some models, the blue whale and penguin models look just like the retired Schleich ones from 2-3 years ago!

Anyway I really like the Sea Lion and Manatee I think they are great but disapointed overall with the number of new models. No new hoofed animals but from what I heard there are some being designed for 2012! Cant wait......I am excited that Collecta are improving and can also come up on par alongside Schleich, Papo and Safari.

Wow, thanks Numaan! I can see the brands are copying each other again - does it say how big the Asian elephant is in the catalogue?
Some great models there, can't wait to see them!

I will take some photos with my mobile phone camera tonight and post them after work. I can only scan them in from work but I forgot to bring the catalogue with me. Sorry folks, I am trying not to keep you all in the dark any longer!

I am so looking forward to the Manatee and Snow Leopards - these are the two main exciting new species by Collecta or anyone else for that matter!

Thank you Numaan for the news and for having sent the photos!

I am very happy about the snow leopard of course and a little disappointed for the missing of hoofed animals....anyway I must say that Collecta is improving a lot and I am very impressed about the sea lion, the indian elephant, ostrich cheeks, angus bulls and the deers, very nice. Also the manatee family, very well sculpted...shall we see them in march probably(?)

The horses are too thin.... Neutral

What's the animal figure world coming too...
Anyone know the size of the CollectA elephants? Oh, wait let me guess...

Where are you seeing it??? And let me see! What is the size of Papo African elephants??? Same of CollectA!
And why the Papo black swan has a knob in the bill??? Nobody told Papo sculptors that Black swans are not melanistic variations from mute swans???
And nobody told the Papo painters that kudus don't have simetric strips???
Do you want more???
Try to see the figures ignoring the name of the brand!
And enjoy yourself with CollectA nice figures too!cheers :)

Schleichzoo on the first page has photos from the catalogue.
I agree with you, I think ALL the product designers need to be better informed about their subjects.
I make no bones about it, I prefer Papo. For me once in a while Schleich makes a descent figure. I also like Safari LTD., especially their Wildlife Wonders series.
But, as I've stated before, I go back to my Britains zoo animals and when put together the elephants look fine next to the rhino, hippos, lions etc..
I won't be satisfied until I get some descent sized elephants.
I was merely pointing out that both companies made similar female Asian
elephants both with tusks. The elephant, unlike the kudu with symmetrical stripes(you can display kudu with stripes, so you can't see the other side if it's really an eyesore), but no matter how you position the female Asian elephant the tusks will always be there.
I can't really ignore the brand because I can pretty much tell who made the figure because they all have certain style. However, if I see a figure that I like
no matter what the brand is, I'll get it (example: like Safari's Indian rhino).

Where do you read CollectA made an asian female elephant confused .

On the catalogue it is only write "Asian elephant". Making males and calves are not a problem for modern companies elephant .

So maybe the problem is : Where is the mother ? Laughing

Check the first page of this topic, and Schleichzoo has photos from the CollectA catalogue.
O.K., so it would seem that since bull elephants are mainly solitary or live in bachelor herds, that an elephant calf(in this case an elephant calf figure), so it's only logical that it(the adult elephant figure) would be with it's mom(therefore, the product designers shouldn't have made a female with tusks!).
Once again, for me, I won't be satisfied until I have all my animals in proportion to each other(doesn't have to be exact, but just enough to make them look good together).

Read the CollectA catalogue and not Schleichzoo post. Wink

On the catalogue, CollectA only talk about an Asian elephant... Not a female.

Why an Asian elephant calf can't be with his father since some 2011 buffaloes and kudus calves lived only with their father Laughing Laughing Laughing .

If you need 1/20 elephants, then you may hunt the Bullyland. I made two topics about them :

By the way, Papo elephants and Schleich hippo are in scale with Britains Very Happy

Yes, I wondered what size the CollectA Asian elephant was. But I'm imagining it will be too small compared with the Schleich zebras - I'm going to try and sculpt an Asian elephant, so see how that turns out, then I won't have to look for an in scale elephant anymore cheers

All are on my wishlist accept for the sea animals and chimps.

Those horses are typical Deborah McDermott sculptures. Very expressive. I'm not usually keen on Arabians but those ones look nice.

So, if it is logical, could you please explain me why in my 2010 Papo catalogue there's an adulte black rhino with a white rhino calf???What a Face
This strategy for the kudu gave me an idea for the elephant, put her turned back and you will not see the tusks!Idea
CollectA has it's own space in the market, very new brand and already the best in birds and horses!
And about sizes, the best dioramas I'm seeing in this forum has wrong scaled animals, people uses the distances. in a diorama, you put almost always the smaller closer and the biggest farer. So, has the space for the diorama is not as deep as real life, the smaller scale of the bigger animals makes it looks farer, see it putting the giraffes behind all animals!

I don't use my figures for dioramas, anyway I will tell Ana to send me a half painted bongo to see if it gets cheaper!Idea

Harriete, I think CollectA Asian elephant will be smaller than the CollectA African elephant!
So, very small to your zebra!
If you want a picture from the CollectA african elephant near a Schleich zebra tell me.
But why are you using a zebra to compare with an Asian elephant???
