Me too. Those usually sell NIB for around $300USD. pale
With a little patience, you could probably get the same from eBay.de for 100€ (approximately $135) or a little more...cheers Wink

The exclusive schleich white cat for 99,99 dollars. What a price, at least to me. But somebody else might find it low or acceptable. Just wanted to post the thing.

I saw the whole pack with that cat for sale at the same price as the cat itself! Hopefully it will come up cheaper eventually - there's no way I'm paying $100 for a scenery pack.

No way I'd pay $1 for any crummy Schleich scenery pack. More interested in figurines than the packaging... Laughing

Now if someone is selling the white 13004 from 1983 (?), I'd gladly pay $100 for it... cheers

Found these two auctions with 15 minutes or so left. As this is Christmas season (low $$$ after purchasing many presents), I had no
difficulty staying out of the bidding:

This info came as quite a shock to me and everyone else here when someone posted photos from a catalog in the
early 80's with the 13004 sitting farm cat in pure white. I'll see if I can find the photo and reference it here. No
collector that I know even knew of the existence of this variant, and there is no photo or reference on Torben's
or Mr. Strassberger's websites. Needless to say, I've never seen one for sale or auction, nor have I ever seen
a photo of one... study

The price is not THAT bad, actually.
My wonderfully crazy cousin in USA gave me the set for a late christmas gift.
She had bought it from Australia, and the seller ( shame on him) had included the receit.
The set was 44,95 $, shipping 40 $, tax 7,73 $, which is a total of 84,95 $, - so not much left for profit to Samson  scratch

Maybe it is with a signature of the seller , maybe there is Tom Hanks behind the sellers name, who knows ?

I never would pay that Price-it is too cheap, and if a Thing has such a low Price, it can be worth nothing.

"Fred" asks for big money for rarities. I remember seeing this wonderfully murky fellow auction for 250 euros once on
eBay.fr, but I think that is maybe double its real value in the marketplace... Smile

I could not agree more, Susanne. In fact, this is one of my all-time favorite figurines. They are considerably
more impressive-looking in person, as opposed to photographic images... cheers

Some collectors who are able to spend a lot of money for those Starlux would never spend a cent for a Schleich or other modern model, even for the rarest  Wink

We collectors are really strange people  monkey

I'd say the opposite, that collectors who set defined boundaries to what they collect are being (slightly) less strange - because they are accepting the reality that no one can collect everything. Of course, when it comes to spending large sums on single rare figures it depends how strictly and narrowly their collection is defined, and what else, within those limits, they might have spent that money on instead. So, for a collector of Starlux figures, or just some series of Starlux figures, the questions they should be asking themselves include: How many other, considerably cheaper, Starlux figures do I still need to complete my collection?, and, What are my chances of another opportunity of buying this rare figure again, perhaps cheaper next time it turns up?

Generally, the broader the range of a person's collection, the less justification there is for buying rare expensive items, for the simple reason that money would be better spent on buying a lot of cheaper items. Granted, it does get a bit more complicated, when choosing what to spend your limited cash on, for those (& I suspect there are many) who have broader overall collections, but with priority parts, such as perhaps a vintage UK made zoo collector who might prioritise Britains and Taylor & Barrett, but collect the other brands as well.

Dave, I was just joking  Wink

I guess my collection's range is broad enough and, even if Starlux models remembered me my youth I would not spend so much money for that model... For teh good reasons your are explaining here.  Very Happy
