| This Black rhino is produced since 2002, some minor changes on painting and molds can occur in 10 years . |

| I had this variation too before I traded it I think new color (darker) were designed in the same year when walking black rhino male figure and calf figure appeared - just to match their coloration. But the lighter version was in market quite a couple of years therefore I wouldn't consider this one as a rare painting But anyway, better wait for the opinion of our experts :) _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| Yeah, Ana is right, the change into the darker colour came with the new black rhino's. Both are produced in quit large numbers, so they won't be expensive in the future i guess... |

| As Ana and Willy have commented these are not rare variations. Schleich has sometimes produced a model and then added a family many years later. With the large gap in between sculptors can change or sculpts are simply improved in new additional family members and so current versions would then need to be changed to fit in.
The rhino was updated to match the new and improved walking and baby rhino. The same happened with the female giraffe and baby - the two new additional family members (giraffe bull and drinking giraffe) had better paintwork and so the existing two models were updated to complement it. |

| The bright grey version was the first edition released in 2002. It was later replaced for the second, much darker version, both are made in Portugal and have also black coloured lips.
The third version was made in china and is also diffrent in colour to the dark portugal version, so it has lost now the black lips and look more realstic in colour than before, so for my taste, the china version is the best.
There als two colour variations of the black rhino bull. |

| Sometimes people think the China version is not the best but in fact I disagree - there are many models where I have better work int he Chinese Model, the most notable being the Yak - German Yak is made from a shiny plastic - Chinese version is painted really well and has a good matt finish. |
