there is only one by K&M but the quality is far lower than Ralf's fantastic red river hog.

Thank you very much my dear collector friends. I´m happy do you like this model. Very Happy
It certainly is not as perfect as Ana's models, but I am very satisfied.
The scale is about 1:18. Is it become, unfortunately, somewhat larger than expected, it should be 1:20, but I think it's still ok. Wink

Dear Ralf, I think when You start make molds from Your figures best solution is do it on unpainted sculpture. This way You not lose texture-the paint has it's thickness. Hope this will help, good luck in mold making Ralf! cheers

So I want to paint an American black bear into an American brown bear variant(since American black bears have many different shades other than black, brown cinnamon, blue, white etc.).
How's the best way to strip figure of black paint(because brown paint to light to cover black)?

Thank you Ana for your help, unfortunately it is too late now, the color is already on the models. But I think can repaint if the color should be solved. Wink

Thank you very much :).
First you need a good color, but even with such, it will not cover most of the first coat. So you have to at least two or even three color coats. But please do not to apply the paint too thick, otherwise the skin loses structure. I hope I could help.

Not sure if keep putting coats of paint on it will work(plus will make bear's coat(the structure, detail, texture) look funny, as you said? But thanks! May try
bleaching the figure?

Great job Ralf, I love that figure and even though it does not come from South Africa (so I can't use it on my diorama) I love these hogs.

Harriet, I love the new avitar, that is a beautiful painting. I may have to commision you to paint my diorama background when I build the case, I need an Indian rain forest painted with a grey stormy sky and a sunny day on the savanna and scrub forest for Africa Very Happy

Nice model! How big(inches long and inches high)?
Only one recommendation, just a little lighter "orangey" color, as well as not using glossy paint. I see red river hogs at the zoo and they don't have a shiny coat. Other than that , you did an excellent job!

Thank you baltimore zoo.
The painted model is the original model, of which I have produced the mold. The glossy coat was created by the applied dividing wax, actually it is much brighter and more matt (see pictures earlier in the topic)! Wink
