Congrats Susanne!

I love all three of them. I think my personal liking for the yak will be Schleich. Icelandic mare & Pelican look great. And also find that pelican is really huge here!!

Susanne! They are gorgeous, but especially the Yak!! I ordered mine months ago, but the site I bought it from said they didn't have it in stock but would send it as soon as they did - I think it will be worth the long wait seeing how fabulous it is cheers cheers

It's Pelicanzilla! So ... Papo, you made a more detailed version of the Schleich yak,
a "freakishly" bigger version of the Safari ltd pelican, and a similar version of the
Safari icey...
Hope you didn't put in to many extra hours conjuring up these brilliant
"retreads"....
I guess either you just want to show you can make better figures by making
similar versions or you're just to lazy to come up with different poses and/or
new animals. Instead of the huge pelican, why not have made a cassowary?
Instead of a yak(Even it looks like it already has a lot of fans), how about a Banteng? Just throwing out a few suggestions...

Yes, how did you guess, I'm from NASA and dealing with the toy companies (who are at times like "brainless" aliens), who copy cat and don't make figures in "relative" proportion are the BANE of my existence.
As I said before, I have a hard time displaying my figures when the mandrill's as big as the gorilla, and they can't make more of a diversified group of figures in different positions/poses. I'm spoiled because I grew up with my Britain's and the elephants are "relatively" in proportion/scale with the rhinos, the rhinos with the lions etc. I have really no complaint with the sizes of my Britains especially when displayed. Look's like Lineol did a pretty good job with proportions/scales as well(Would love to see an entire Lineol zoo set-up/display)!
Yes, the new 2011 yak is nice, heck of a lot better than the Schleich, but
why couldn't they make it in a lying position instead of a Schleich red-do?
You know I love Papo, but I'm rather disappointed with this years assortment!

Congratulations to all these new Susanne
The splendid horses.
The pelican big top for display, should I put my birds with Africans if I buy it! ??
The yak, seemed better images than reality;
I find it odd horns as they are painted, but the model is nice, you may need to wait for the next shipment or go to the paint shop!

Yes, it is a pity the horns are painted so strangely. Perhaps, as you say, it is beginner`s problem and they will make them better later , - I hope so !!!

Hk, definitely repaint the horns to your liking.

They could have done a wild yak figure instead of the domesticated version. Apparently, the wild yaks are huge (the males-1000 pounds and 7 feet tall at the shoulder). So many options, but they had to copy cat...
I would really like to see a collection of Lineol zoo animals displayed!
I think they definitely have a refined look, similar now to what Papo produces.
Hey, I really like the Alien! Alien and Aliens, are two of my fav' movies!
By the way Roger, since I'm from N.A.S.A., I "GUESS" you know it stands for what I stand for...

I meant to say Nice Artistically Scale Animals...

*Not "scaled"(since I am referring to proportion not skin texture), however all crocodilians, pythons, cobras, monitors, and geckos are always welcome to be made into figures : )

PostSubject: My first Papo dino and the strange mammut.   Susanne's Papo additions! - Page 2 EmptyTue Jun 07, 2011 8:59 pm

When I ordered the new papos, I could not resist the temptation to get just one dino also. Just a little, inexpensive one Rolling Eyes Laughing

My choice was the scary Pteranodon !!!!
Susanne's Papo additions! - Page 2 Flyveoegle
Fortunately such creatures no longer fly round our ears What a Face

Unlike the other brands, it seems that the name of the species is not moulded on the figuere, so I had to look in the catalogue. And thus I discovered that the mammut I got in a mixed lot last year, is not the one in the latest catalogues !!!
There came a new one in 2009 !
So now I still have a Mammut from Papo on my wishlist silent

Susanne's Papo additions! - Page 2 Papomammut
Funny thing is that the item number of this old mammuth starts with 397 just like the cavemen. The new one starts with 550 like the dinoes Laughing

Congratulation Susanne Very Happy The mammoth is the retired one... A good catch.

The pteranodon is really beautiful too, very detailed and finely made except for one thing... It can't be a pteranodon !
Pteranodon means "toothless wings" in Greek. Pteranodon had toothless beaks, similar to those of modern birds.
The Papo has tooth What a Face Isn't it serious ? clown Laughing

Congratulations Susanne!
If the meaning is ptera-no-don you can call him ptera-don! So you have a flying reptile with teeth! :)
About the starting of the number series of your mammoth you have the explanation in this page of your catalogue, in 2004 there was no dinosaurs!!!

THE CROC says, "Gnu Migration" = "Fast Food"

What did the mother crocodlie say to her baby while he was flinging his wildebeest from side to side around in the river?

Is always easier to say what we want than to find a solution! NASA is funded to develop solutions and not to require wills! Or am I Wrong??? Suspect

The solution to the problem is easy...

Realistic Animal(From Concept design) + Artistic Detail (WIth Sculpting + Painting) + (All figures made in Relative Proportion to each other) = Happy and Non Complaining Baltimore Zoo

OK, let's see all what can we do for you, is really sad to see a Zoo unhappy! I know you don't mind with the scale, but 1:20, 1:18, what is your choice???

I'm not an expert in scale, honestly if the figures look reasonably good together, I'm fine with that.
I really like my Papo big cats, so what ever that scale is, I'd like to see
other animals to go with them : )

Ex: Papo: Just eyeing it, the bigs cats, gorilla, nile croc, hippo, dromedary camels, orang, giraffes, basically look good if displayed in the same zoo diorama(I'm fine with).

That's easier, as I told many times, animals are not cars, if you have a car of 4,30 m in a 1:43 scale this car has to have 10 cm, but animals are not exact in measurements, there are in a wide range of sizes, for example the leopard. So, I agree completly a 1:18 lion can fit with a 1:20 lion working the 1:20 as a smallest lion. With safety rules you will be not lucky enough to see a complete range of a brand in a scale, unless some figures like Preiser, for example, that are made in scale to trains displays. But in scale with your Papo lion you have a lot of figures but mostly medium and large sized animals. You already use the WW for larger species and certainly polybag and toobs figures for smaller! What are you needing??? Suspect

I'll have to work on a list. Why can't they just use Britain's as a guideline. I think they all look great when displayed together. I know they're not perfect, but relatively o.k.. I'm fine with that.
I go back to the Safari Indian rhino, a beautiful figure, but instead of it being
3" tall and 4.75" long, I would have been happy if it had been made 4 1/2" tall and 6 1/2" long, just a little bigger than what was produced(about the size of Papo hippo).

Well, I have to use the Papo black rhino, and I guess I'll have to use the Safari ltd. Indian.
*But do you see what I'm saying about just making it the dimensions(4 1/2" tall and 6 1/2") I said?

Even if they were some of the first ones that Papo made, they are still quite nice, i think Wink
No real farm without them , so I just had to get them Rolling Eyes

Here the geese. Both marked 2003, but the grey one came in 2004, the white one came in 2006.
The grey one is named a Perigord goose, but they probably both are.

The first chickens, marked 2003, they appear in the 2004-catalogue.

I couldn`t get picture of the white ones and the dark ones sharp in the same photo. So here the white hen(s) alone Wink

Here the Gallic rooster and his wife. Both marked 2004, but they appear in the 2005-catalogue

The two roosters together

And the two rabbits, both marked 2003. The black/white one came in 2004, the brown one in 2006.
They look strange in the catalogue, but they are really cute Very Happy

The Perigord goose (geese?) here is hopefully not being force fed to get a sick, swollen liver (Foi gras). I HATE foi gras and HATE resturants where they serve it !!!! But that is another story ;-)
