new photos of my Flock Empty
PostSubject: new photos of my Flock   new photos of my Flock EmptyMon Aug 22, 2011 7:34 am

I am working on getting individual photos, but here are better pictures of my collection in their 'fold.' Most of these are ceramic, but i promise i'll get to the Safaris Schleichs etc as soon as i can! I actively collect only domestic sheep, but I have some other animals that i couldn't resist or that have been given to me.

This shelf has some of my favorite pieces, not least the only Mastiff figure I have! (It's resin.) The Mule and Morgan Horse at the back are Hagen Renakers, as is the brown dog. The little composition donkey was my grandmother's. My dad gave him to me when I was little, and he's been one of my most prized possessions ever since. His name is Daniel. The big lamb on the left and the two small bisques in front of it are by Boehm. The kneeling bisque is a Lenox. The Herdwick Ewe and the Down lamb are by Border Fine Arts. The lamb with a bell is "Mandy" by Cybis; she's the companion piece to Bo Peep. The little ram in front of Mandy is by Breyer. The funny little ceramic is marked "Tosca". And then some little lead or pewter figures and a broach.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Mostly Beswicks and Hagen Renakers. The horse in the back is by Pour Horse. The big ram is the back is the Boreray from the Beswick Rare Breeds Survival Trust series. HR Lady Jane and Son John on the right. Then a couple rows of Beswicks, and in front HR minis, plus a few other types. In the very front, Schleich mini Goat and Sheep (brown one thanks to Willy!) and a Suffolk Ewe and Lamb that may be Britains, but are not marked.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Not much here, but the BFA Black Faced Tup should make up for lack of quantity! The appaloosa horse and foal were made by BHR, my friend Karen Grimm who passed away this spring. Sad You can see the BFA Connemara Pony peeking in behind the Scottish "spaghetti" ram. The lamb in the middle is from an artist in Texas. A Christmas tree ornament and a couple of bobble-heads. A very heavy metal lamb and a cast resin/stone lamb in the front.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Wade Whimsies and HR Hackney Pony "Brookside Stella". The large white lamb on the right is for the Wade Collectors' Club. They also made this lamb in black, but only about 100 of them, so I don't have much hope of ever getting one.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

HR's plus a BFA trinket box, and a Goebel Lipizzaner that my great aunt gave me from her European travels as a young woman. And Spence (and me affraid ) in the reflection!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

stay tuned...

PostSubject: Re: new photos of my Flock   new photos of my Flock EmptyMon Aug 22, 2011 7:55 am

These next shelves are hard to photograph because they're in the corner where it's dark and/or shooting through curved glass.

HR Roan Lady and Amir in the back. The little draft horse is BHR "Clancy". (Black Horse Ranch was Karen Grimm's real ranch and her company that sold and produced model horses. The ceramic appy and black resin foal on the other shelf are BHRs.) Goebels in the front. The large lying ewe is European, but i haven't yet figured out who made her. The lambs lying together are Royal Copenhagen. The others are by assorted makers: Beechstone, Loza, Lomonosov, Otagiri...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

BFA Suffolks and Swaledale Ram (I have all of the BFS families, but they got separated). A Raku piece. Two sheep from a nativity set my grandfather helped make. A special release Bing & Grondahl. The lamb in the hat is by Cordelia, an American company in the 1940s. At least one of the white lambs is by Kaiser. The three little ones in front are by Northern Rose. The Mockturtle is by Beswick. (Pay no attention to the woman in the mirror-- affraid gads i look a mess!)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Freeman McFarlin unicorn, Lenox Ram, and three pieces from an artist in England's Lake District, whose name I can't remember and I'm too tired to go look up. Another Cordelia lamb without the hat. They also made a Spaniel and a Cat wearing hats.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

whew! and that's only part of it! Next the Safari, Schleich, ELC, etc. I can't imagine how you with thousands of pieces do it!

I'm in the process of photographing and cataloging the entire collection, so pretty soon i hope to share individual photos. What a Face

WOW! Shocked cheers cheers that is such a wonderful collection Carolynn! I always get excited when I see ceramics in a collection, there's something really appealing about them.
I love HR Roan Lady, she is stunning, what a beauty - you couldn't share closer pics? Very Happy I bet she's impossible to get hold of now though?

I just LOVE the BFA sheep, I bid on a Swaledale sheep the other day, but was outbid Mad I really wanted one as well, I'll just have to keep an eye out. But I bought a Northlight Lleyn (?) sheep. It looks like that anyway, I'm not sure of the breed.

If your new NL sheep is a ewe turning her head back and down, she's a Merino. Her lamb is adorable too.
for years i resisted getting ceramics because i live in earthquake land, but as you can see, obsessions win over practicality!
Roan Lady is magnificent. She usually goes for $400-$600. Mine isn't even particularly fine, but she's a Roan Lady and i got her for $2 at a yard sale. Very Happy Speaking of earthquakes, she broke both back legs in a quake and i remember as i was running out of the house, i saw her lying there and thought, 'better you than me!'

I might collect sheep, but these two are my prizes:

I love my new camera! It's a Sony Cyber-shot, and if you can believe it, it's a point & shoot! These photos were taken at night, by regular room lighting, no flash!
I'm posting photos of Daniel the donkey on the composition board.

Thanks! I love it too! I have a few Christmas ornaments that are Mastiffs, but this is the only figure that's good enough for me to have. They are the best dogs!

they're not in that cabinet. Wink they're in a vitrine in my bedroom. i have all the NL sheep that i know of, except the "art color" rams. of course, that's not saying much: there are only these three, the Suffolk Ewe and her two lambs, and a Black Face Ram. i wish they'd done more. i think NL's sheep are much better than their horses.

Thank you, Ken! I'm very pleased with it, as good Mastiff figures are hard to find.

I got it on ebay, several years ago. I just did a quick look, and didn't see it. There are several Mastiff figures on there, but they're not very good. I'll keep an eye open and see if i can find one for you.
