Sunfish 2013 Safari Ltd Incredible Creatures

Two new models from Safari this year made me really, really exited : The sunfish and the flying fish
I already presented the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], and the sunfish is perhaps even more wonderful  

In English he is called "Sunfish", but in German and French "Moonfish", and in Danish Klumpfisk - "Lumpfish"

Apart from his unusual look, the sunfish is special, because he is the largest bonefish known, he can weigh up to a ton !
As his diet mainly consists of jellyfish, it is goes without saying, that he must eat enormous quantities of food  

In spite of the problem of getting enough food for such a fish, an oceanarium in northern Denmark ( Hirtshals), had such a fisk, all animal lovers in the country knew him, he was called Klumpe
But, alas, in 2003 a fire broke loose in the oceanarium, and poor Klumpe was boiled alive  

A new place is now built, and after an attemt to introduce new sunfish, it was given up. It was decided that it is not ethical ok to keep so huge a fish in captivity.

BUT now I have a Klumpe here , - isn`t he gorgeous ?

Congrats! He's a very nice replica I think Safari should've sold the stand and sunfish together and not seperately since he can't stand by himself without it. Hopefully in the future, Safari will release other sea life not commonly seen on the market.

Aww, good you found the spirit of Klumpe, and keep him a worthy memory

It was so sad with the fire Totally horrible really... And good thing they decided not to continue with a new Lumpfish.

Congratulation Susanne for your Mola mola. It is a very nice and huge model. It have all the good things I love with SAFARI Ltd products, nice sculpt and rarely seen specie
It has also the main SAFARI Ltd curse... The painting
nevertheless, it must find a place in every serious aquarium !

This kind of releases makes Safari a special brand. Not everything is expectable, not everything is the same.
Thanks for your nice pictures and additional information. In Portuguese language it is also called peixe-lua what means moon fish.
