PostSubject: HO scale farm   HO scale farm EmptyThu Apr 15, 2010 4:07 pm

Here are the pics of the HO scale designed by Dover, new england farm house, that I made a few years ago. And the Preiser animal and figures, which I painted to go with it. Still have loads of farm animals to paint. The photos have made the house look warped, it's not really like that.

Thanks Ana. I've made a few card models, some recently, it's one of the things I really enjoy doing. Most recent is a pub and two cottages.

Thanks Phil. It's hard painting such small figures, but fun at the same time.

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Are you planning on putting a train set with it, or just using it as a farm? I have tried to paint some of the HO peope as well. They are so tiny and require a steady hand to get details. You did an awesome job on yours.

Excellent diorama, great little scale to work with, you can allways do extensions and add more angles to it, and the buildings you have done are really detail, really love.

And you mention you painted the figures as well, that is excellent, have you thought about adding some trees to it, or maybe just a special one. Since the scale is small you could allways go full scale with tree, meaning reproduce the species as big as it gets in nature on the same scale.

Most dioramas downsize the scale of their landscape, especially trees and i understand that in large scales it is never a priority and at times not possible because of room, however the few times that i have seen a diorama using full scale trees, the look is impressive, trees are usually so much bigger than we think they are.

Ha, well, it would be cute having an engine, but I have four boards to attach to this farm, which I haven't finished, they will have a windmill on, feilds and perhaps a stream. Glad you liked it :)

Thanks Danny, it is a nice scale to work with. I have four boards to attach, one board will run in front of the farm house, this ones pictured in the one with the walls either side of the track. Then there are three more which will surround the whole farm board. I ran out of grass to cover them and I need some tree materiel too. I'm dying to make trees for it, I would like cherry trees, oaks and other small bushes. I would really like a stream running through one of the surrounding fields too. And a windmill, which I have already made and painted, will go on one of them too.
Yes that is true with trees being a lot bigger then you think. I would also like to make some apple or other fruit trees, in the space at the back of the farm, to be an orchard. At the moment it looks a bit bleak. I really want to get cracking on it again.
With my farm animals and people from Preisier, I got a few horses, there's a beautiful bull I need to paint too and two calves. A whole load of goats, sheep and pigs. I won't paint them all as I don't need them, I will save some for something else. It was a really lovely box set, the unpainted figures are highly detailed.

We're like your diorama. And this rock wall that I associate only with rural England. We look forward to continuing. I hope you manage to finish and share with us the final result of the work.

Thanks Kirill and Sue, I like looking down the track into the open barn doors, makes it feel real. I made a windmill for it too, I'll post pictures. The windmill doesn't really go with the farm as it looks too Dutch/English, but I'll be placing it in one of the surrounding fields, so it won't matter.

Very nice farm Harriet.

I like very much the idea of Danny : Some big trees could enhance the dio. Very Happy

Harriet look forward to a windmill. I wonder if you're the goat. In Polish legends with wooden windmills are goats.

Now that i saw that little bull again, it reminded me of two bulls, that came with a Matchbox model, but in white of course.
