Dear all

I have pleasure in announcing the next dinosaur due for release in 2013 - the Ichthyovenator.  A newly discovered dinosaur.

The Ichthyovenator is a spinosaurid theropod dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous. The generic name is derived from Greek (ichthys), "fish", and Latin (venator), "hunter", in reference to his piscivorous lifestyle. The fossil was found only in 2010.

News!Everything Dinosaur blog reveals that this Ichthyovenator model will have a base:D
Being a piscivorous dinosaur,I personally expect thatthe base will have something tipically riverine.

Too bad I don't collect Dinos. Otherwise, this one would instantly be on my hit list. This one is amazing! CollectA keep improving their products.
Thanks CollectA.

Very nice pose, to me it looks obvious that it needs a base, CollectA needed a lot engeneering to make it stand correctly without a base. The picture is not enough to make a judgement once head is a very important feature in a spinosaurid, but, as it happens with other series, a very nice species again! Very Happy

The prototype stands quite well,Everything Dinosaur said.People suggest the bases issue a lot,so this will have a base.Otherwise,I'll have to get this amazing spinosaurid figure.Really an unusual addition.
Now,the wait begins again until next Friday.Wondering what will we see.A prehistoric mammal?Another dinosaur?A deluxe dinosaur?Such a tease!

So a new dinosaur will be unveiled tomorrow,no?Twisted Evil
I just hope it'll be a dinosaur, and that please and if possible, announces the 2014 prehistoric mammal the latest.I hope we'll see the 2014 ceratopsian soon.Hopefully,it will be Pentaceratops,Xenoceratops or Medusaceratops.I also want to see more Deluxe dinos. The great Carcharodontosaurus made me wanting more  Deluxes.More family dioramas would be cool, especially if the specie is a troodontid or an exotic maniraptoran.Pegomastax would also be a pretty neat figure. But I think what we'll see is something unexpected or unguessable, maybe new in the market Cool

The Ichthyovenator is an aesthetically pleasing figurine for sure, but I'm slightly bothered by the fact that he'd scarcely be able to stand statically like that with his supporting legs set even and so far back. The weight distribution just wouldn't work; the tail, even if of sheer muscle, tendon and bone, isn't hefty enough to counterbalance his forequarters, especially not with the presumed guts sliding forwards towards his chest cavity as he bows down. It's just a biomechanical quibble, sure, but one that niggles me.

Everything Dinosaur says the model will have a base and that CollectA is working on it actually.
They also says that the prototype stands quite well

I'm sure it'll be made stand by external aids, yes - but I was talking about the biomechanics of the animal the figurine models. If the model were an actual animal, it would not be able to sustain that static pose without falling on its face.
