| Well, I'm not a fish specialist, not even close, but..just seeing numbers, it seems the scale of the leopard shark is about 1:11 - 1:12, while goliath grouper's is 1:15-1:17. |

| Maybe, but I've seen both species in aquariums and certainly the leopard shark figure, while a bit bigger than I would wish, is not shocking to me, contrarily to the grouper! _________________ My collection:- (Details):

| Yes, maybe the groupers you saw were not fully grown, but still both species seem to be big for a common sea-life collection (dolphins/sharks/whales). Normally your leopard shark should be about half the size of the guitarfish.. |

| Obviously I have never seen a grouper of that size in aquariums, but they DO exist in the wild. | Right, a quick google pictures search will reveal many samples of this species more than 2 meters long. I don't want to post dead fish photos here.. |

| This photo of real goliath grouper , doesn`t show the correct size realistically. Playing with perspective ! Goliath grouper can be a big fish , but not that big. Ben, I will tell you a secret ... Your grouper model is not big at all ! It is actually very very small ! Everything which is smaller than 1:1 scale , is small ! Period ! |

Everything which is smaller than 1:1 scale , is small ! Period ! Yes, sure Kosta knows what he's talking about and has a relaxed approach over this matter, but each one here is building a fantasy miniature world of toys. And since this board here gives us the privilege to know each other's collecting taste, an animal toy's size is up to the individual collector. Meaning, for the same model I would say "it's too small" to Pardo, "too big" to a 1:32 collector and nothing about size to Kosta. Size matters are to be respected and not anathematized to a collection. It's a common collecting rule, free to use, and as healthy as a "no rule" approach. So, Ben's grouper is just fine for the majority of his collection, a bit big for his sea life collection but still acceptable. Also, size discussions are very amusing to me in this forum, an extra matter to talk about and have fun with the different perspectives of our collector friends. |

| After almost two years of deliberation about which model of Great White Shark should I get in my collection, yesterday I bought at a local commercial center the latest Schleich one. In my opinion, it's absolutely perfect. Here you can admire it's perfect proportions, the indented rear border of dorsal fin as in a worn individual, the lateral keels of the tail peduncle, the very well made facial expression... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And the thing that make me love this model soooo much: the Lorenzini ampullae sculpted! I think that it's the only shark figurine by western brands that shows that character. Admire also the nostril shape, and the very well done double row of lower mandible teeth (much better than the very blunt/too big teeth of the otherwise perfect Safari model). Upper mandible have no teeth, except some very shallow unpainted marks, but this is no problem for me. Or this is what this individual believed... until a bad encounter happened! | Isidro, surely this great white shark is a fantastic rendition of the animal. The presence of the Lorenzini ampullae is a surprising detail. Is it made with the traditional sturdy pvc we see on Schleich figures or the softer material we find in some recent sea life models?

| Yes, I saw your wonderful walk-around about that basking shark that will definitely join my collection at some point as I wish it since the same day it was announced, even when I have absolutely no room for it in my shelves! I suppose you mean closed? This is the one with open mouth... the retired one with closed mouth is nice and during various months I was very doubty about which one to choose, as an online store from my country sells the closed-mouth one. But finally going to commercial center I checked the Schleich stand and being the only figure enough interesting for me, finally I decided (after years of seeing the same model in the same commercial center in several occasions!) During a time I agreed with [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to get this shark in exchange of some figures I will trade with him, but finally they will be other different figures. But I never found a so long-term waiting to trade before! For me is no problem, we have all the time of the world, but when I finally receive the Adam's items he will have beard _________________ My collection:- (Details):

| Thank you! I struck by how well the spotted eagle ray was painted; I now understand why. Still, given its size, I need to see whether I can find the original Safari version. |
