I don't really know what to tell about these geckos. Though, it is a good idea to include geckos in their range. Thanks for sharing Jolie. So you have a warpie eagle and you're not satisfied about it? - Kikimalou wrote:

Unfortunately, I'm a bit disappointed myself.
STS has a special bond with Mojo and it has been a great opportunity and a great adventure for us.
For several years James has allowed collectors to participate in the development of his toys: the pangolin, the Proboscis monkey, the lynx, the 2nd generation lions, Linnaeus's two-toed sloth, the Sable and of course the Crested macaque (thank you James ).
Mojo fun also allowed Anna to share her talent with us with the Gaur, the Thylacine, the Quagga, the honeybadgers, etc.
How many companies have produced a sun bear and a black bear before a grizzly or a brown bear? A Tamandua before a Giant anteater? A Brazilian tapir before a Malayan tapir? An emu before an ostrich?
I understand the brand's need to develop its range with more mainstream animals.
In recent years, I've been delighted with warthogs, African elephants, anacondas and aardvarks, so it's no big deal if this year isn't the one I was hoping for.
I still have a lot of respect and gratitude for James Connely. By the way Rogério, your Lion #0 is still my favourite Mojo lion.
Thanks Christophe, it is a very well finished figure and apparently the inspiration was a very good and famous model but this one has a wig. Of course this particular figure is very special to me for obvious reasons but my favorite lion is Mojo #2. I really like that model despite the lack of a chin. |

I'm glad to see Kiki and @Duck-Anch-Amun think "Animal" is suggestive enough to work as "Identified as" without the need of using the latter one. On the given example of the former CollectA deer, the use of the link to the "marketed as" field was not my personal choice. I find it confusing too. It was decided to include the link after a forum discussion because "Red deer" is the page a collector would look for it. I like the 3 points Blaine mentions and they show what I mean and I think the "marketed as" is enough to cover all 3. Though, I insist we should use whether "marketed as" or "marked" according to the way we obtain the information. Basically it is the same field, we don't need to use both. Often we don't know how a figure is marketed and it is important to know the information was obtained because the figure is marked like that. Rarely, some figures are also marketed differently from what they are marked. The famous Nayab Maned Wolf (extralarge) shows the difference, I think telling it is marketed as a (Myers Asparagus) is quite inaccurate, though, it is interesting and important to help identifying the model to mention it is marked "Myers Asparagus". For Blaine's example #1 we have the Papo King cobra. It is marketed as a "King cobra" and the hood shape marking correspond to an Indian cobra. So, it is identified as an Indian cobra. Animal: Indian cobra Marketed as: King cobra This is enough to me in terms of fields, . A note should be added. For Blaine's #2: We have Papo (current) Fox. It is just marketed as a "Fox" Though, it is unequivocally a red fox. Our identification is not because Papo is an European company. The model is unambiguous and despite the fact the name fox is generic, we also know that in this hobby, when a figure is just marketed as a fox, it is much likely a red fox. It is one of the reasons why I've been suggesting for a long time that we should identify a model to a very comon species level when it is applicable and there's no evidences it is not the commonest species. Fox to red fox, Hedgehog to common hedgehog, hippopotamus to common hippopotamus, zebra to plains zebra, etc. Animal: Red fox Marketed: Fox It is enough to me, no note needed. For Blaine's #3. We have the Papo ladybird. Ladybird is the common name for family Coccinellidae, thus, it covers multiple species. As it is red with 7 spots and Papo is an European brand, it is relatively evident it is a Seven-spot ladybird which is the commonest species at least in Europe. Animal: Seven-spot ladybird Marketed as: Ladybird It is again enough for me. A little note might help. I would like to add a 4th issue. It is when the figure is not marked and we have no idea how it was marketed. Nayab set of 36 assorted small wild animals is a very good example. The page starts with an aardvark, there's no doubts about the species even if it is not known how it is marketed. Though, there's also the Jaguarundi, it is surely a very optimistic identification, I accept it and it might support Roger's idea of using the field "Marketed as" "unknown" to suggest to a visitor it is clearly a community identification. I know this figure was sold on Wild Republic Wildepedia set for their North American animals. Are you sure it was supposed to be sold as a jaguarundi? Much likely it intended to represent a black jaguar. However, let me show you how the same solution results so different for two figures of the same set. Animal: Aardvark Marketed as: Unknown Animal: Jaguarundi Marketed as: Unknown Both are fine to me but this mention sounds quite useless for the aardvark figure but I also don't know where is the border between an easily identifiable figure and a very ambiguous figure. If it serves to keep consistency, it is fine. When we know how a figure is marked but we don't know how it was marketed and I know it sounds the same to most of you, we should use "Marked" instead. It is just my opinion. Let's take the example of the XL Nayab genet. Animal: Common gennet Marked: Viverricula indica This is the scientific name of the Small Indian civet. Actually, during my editing job, I've been considering these aspects. I've used as always as it was possible, the marketed name for the name of the page. It allows someone finding it easily when Googling. It also tells how it is marketed even if it is not clear at first. I've been adding notes, sometimes whether using wiki code or not, when something is ambiguous. i also have used often on series page introductory text, mentions when the identifications are conjectural or community based. For set pages, not necesarily to each individual figure. Concluding, I find the "Marketed as" a useful field as long as it is not mandatory because it is useless for many figures. Though, I don't think @Tiermann suggestion to change the guidelines is the most adjusted. I would prefer to keep Animal as it is now, with our identifications and linking to the corresponding animal page. The "Marketed as" as a complement to the Animal field when needed and without any link. Explaining text is always useful but the function of these fields should be to reduce the needing of extra text. Though, it is sometimes unavoidable. I don't think we need additional text (note) to explain why we identify a red fox which is marketed as a fox. Though, it might be important to the king cobra being identified as an Indian cobra or the ladybird as a 7-spot one. |

I fixed the links and pictures in this topic but since the top5 uses Toy Animal Wiki as source this Top5 needs to be updated. Dalmatian is out now, Rough Collie is now [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] quite close to both Retrievers. We introduced recently several figures from 1990's when Rough Collies were quite popular and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is now the Poodle. I'm using New-Ray figures to illustrate the new top5. 1. German Shepherd [You must be [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to see this image.]2. Labrador 3. Thanks to Paige's keen ebay spotting, I have finally added a few of the elusive CP Toys "Kitty Cat Park" cats to my tiny cat collection. [You must be [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to see this image.] They are most interesting to me because they are the same molds as the Play Visions and Club Earth sets, which started my collecting, and they are even stamped exactly the same way with the same numbers. So I am curious, does the same place make figures for all three? Do we know who manufactures Constructive Playthings toys? I am assuming Constructive Playthings and CP Toys are the same company, but I don't see either on TAW, so I assume they are not producing very many animal figures. This is the original photo from the company of all 16 cats. There are two of each mold, but they do not have the Rex ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]), the Burmese ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]), the Abyssinian ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]), or the Persian ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]). They have the Shorthair, Unmarked cat, Siamese, Manx, Somali, Himalayan, and Angora. It's funny to me that the unmarked cat is in every set, and always remains just 3 CHINA with no breed: And here are my 5! Angora, Birman, Himalayan, Unmarked, and Manx. They are definitely less well painted than either of the other two sets, and the "Birman" is colored like a Turkish Van which I think is interesting. Anyway, I was very excited to find these and just curious what we know about the company that sold them! |

This model looks absolutely great to me. Obviously there's some room for little improvements but everything with the word slightly. A slightly longer body, a slightly smaller head and a slightly narrower tail. Elephants are trumpeters but they are also accordionists. When their legs get close to each other during their walk, their bodies look really short. When comparing with the Britains models, this figure seems to have a more correct dropping back and generally it looks a more mature animal. I am not sure I'd love to see new dentition to turn it into a bull. I think we were informed by the brand it was a female. Now I am curious to see what's better than that. Probably the new Mojö Fun African elephant for [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and a vintage bull for [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. Looking at what you were attempting to emulate vs your work I actually think it worked quite well. NAYAB has been always a controversial brand. From knock-offs to what we suppose to be their original designs, this brand is often found in discussions on forum. It is also believed Nayab produce figures to other brands, a good example is the Wild Republic Polybags. I am skeptical about everything related with Nayab. The Realistic Animal series are known for a long time as Delprado models, I was told with official confirmation that the animal themed sets, like the wild dogs, deers, etc. are from a manufacturer called Toy-Mate, etc., etc. Whatever they are, they will always be known as Nayab among us.It is also hard to tell how many anteaters were released. I have these two, a large and a small. There is also an Extralarge but I am not sure a mini exists. These models were probably released during the first years of this century, here are both together, important to notice that the larger figure is hollow. Actually, it was one of my first anteater figures, a gift from a very kind member, inactive for a long time, which username is [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. [You must be [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to see this image.]Large model is 12 cm long, quite compatible with major brands. The small model is 7 cm long, the same size as some 1:32 scale vintage figures. Here a comparison with the Hong Kong [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] model and the Hausser Elastolin 54mm figure. I am convinced the Hong Kong figure is more recent than the other mould presented as [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], maybe from 1980's, so I'd say it is a predecessor of the Nayab small model. |

Hong Kong marked animals ploriferated during 1970's. Often inspired in models from known brands. It is not easy to tell what they are in fact, this kind of figures are regularly debated onf forum but it is not easy to sort them in brands or manufacturers. So, we just know them as Hong Kong figures. I have these three, if anyone knows anything about these figures, please let me know. They're small figures, originally made to fit with 1:32 scale models. I don't have their brothers from Playspaces Prior or RAE. First two figures are color variations of the same sculpt or at least almost identical. 3rd figure is a different model. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is not marked, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is marked HONG KONG and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is marked MADE IN HONG KNO Interesting is also their difference of weight, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] weighs 4g, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] weighs 5g and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] weighs 7g. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is a larger figure so it is natural but interesting to find difference in weights between [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] what shows that they're made with materials of different density. About their sizes, First models are 69 mm long while the last model is 73 mm long. It means the third model is the same size of the Hausser, so Roger, you can use all of these as 1:32 scale. Apparently only Britains didn't use extreme lengths to represent this animal. It is also weird how these figures were painted. If the first two follow a similar layout, the larger model is almost painted like a ratel. [You must be [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to see this image.] Sure the Britains is the most realistic among all of these for the reasons Roger pointed, namely the knuckling front paws that are often uncorrectly represented but proportions are also better on Britains model. For example, the Elastolin figure has a very long body for such a discreet tail. It is good to remember that these animals cover their body with their tails when sleeping, something the Hausser can't do. [You must be [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to see this image.] Here a comparison of the Hong Kong [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] model with the Britains. Okay, I took better photos of everyone and figured out, as well as I could, which ones we know and which ones we don't. Each mare and foal set seems to be consistent, as in the molds are always used together. Okay, so I turned my attention to these guys a while ago, trying to figure out what they were and to get whichever ones I could find. First of all, success figuring out how they were packaged, anyway! Or at least how SOME of them were packaged. One size of the Kid Kore Stable Champions with rooted hair was sold with a pair of solid plastic minis, a mare and foal (it seems like). Kid Kore was available only in Wal-Mart, as far as I could find. It was registered in 1998 and then dissolved in 2009. Aside from what is on Toy Animal Wiki already, that's all I could find. Interestingly, the package does not acknowledge the minis at all. Once I saw how they were packaged, though, I thought it would be pretty easy sailing from there to figure out what was available - just begin by assuming each horse on the backcard had two matching minis. Turns out, definitely not as easy as that. Here are the ones still in package that I could find pictures of: The back card: [You must be [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to see this image.]French Trotter [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]French Trotter [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Saddlebred Westphalion And here are their minis, closer: French Trotter [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (no image contained the entire model, never saw its head) French Trotter [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Saddlebred Westphalion Things got weird quickly when I started finding physical models, though. For instance (all minis are stamped with Kid Kore 1999 China): My appaloosa foal doesn't match either Appaloosa [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] or Appaloosa [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] on the backcard. That could be attributed to them simply not worrying too much about matching, and just having an appaloosa pattern, but then I found a matching horse in the same mold as some of these. Could there have been later sets with new colors? I suspect that's possible, meaning there could be a slew of them out there. I also found a photo of a matching mini mare: This mini also doesn't match any existing sets on that back card. Maybe it goes with the pinto, you might think, but I have the matching mare and foal mini set on their way to me for that. I had no luck finding anything that looked like this one, except perhaps a leopard appaloosa: Here's one that I believe does go with one of those pictured horses. Weirdly enough, I think this is the Palomino. The French Trotter [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is the actual palomino color, however. Oops. This foal might belong to one of the two appaloosas. I would guess Appaloosa [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], but since it doesn't match very well, I don't know without seeing it in package. And finally, a confirmed set! This mare and foal are the Saddlebred. I did not buy the large horse that came with them, though it was available. I found photos of a few more but they aren't mine. Here's what I think they are, though. Thoroughbred (because they Westphalion set, though black, is in a different pose) And Hackney (which looks exactly like the Saddlebred on the backcard) I could be completely wrong on those guesses, of course. They might be something totally different. Once the pintos arrive, I'll include their photos as well, though they are stuck currently in California. If you found yours, Paige, I would love to see them! Or if anyone else has any, please share! :) I really like them. Unfortunately, most of them do not stand well on their own, so displaying them will be a bit tricky. |

Do you think I should list #1, #2, #10 with this black #4 and #11 as Play Visions minis while the other marked with numbers as Club Earth To Go as long as the mistery is not solved? I was listing the numbered as Club Earth while those marked China as Play Visions but probably it makes more sense the other way round because those you call Play Visions match the catalogue and it is a Play Visions catalogue after all. |

Very hard to choose here, there are others I could be just as happy with 1. PNSO Corythosaur 2. CollectA Pleuroceras 3. PNSO Sinoceratops 4. PNSO Adopodentatus 5. Safari Shringasaur If they were options, I'd had to have chosen PNSO's hatching 'Aaron' Tyrannosaur as #1, and the hatching 'A-Qi' Sinoceratops as #2 or 3 |

Now I can tell that my choice was Jean-Luc’s banner, I am very traditionalisst. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I can't say you are so traditionalist because we had traditionally several different traditional banners in the past [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Now I can tell I voted for the N°1, Anna's banner [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
