| I want to share my joy with you, friends: several new Safari birds were added to my collection (thanks to Mrs. Ramona Pariente)! Here are my newcomers: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The very best among them – a real masterpiece! – is flamingo. To my mind, it’s one of the best bird figurines of all time, and definitely the best flamingo figure I’ve ever seen. Here it is next to its Collecta counterpart – it seems as they belong to different leagues: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]View from above: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And from below: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I hope the flamingo likes his new habitat in my African shelf display: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Now I have another goal: to acquire 3 or 4 more Safari flamingoes to make up a flock. Cause these critters must be in a flock! _________________ Owners of miniature zoos on shelves, unite! My collector's blog

| Congratulations Kiril for your nice birds! I'm taking the same steps, I'm purchasing wings of the world too, today I've bought the mandarin and flamingo! I have a different oppinion about flamingos, I had both in my hands but I loved more the realism of the CollectA one! Anyway I've bought only the Safari because there's many grass in the CollectA figure! But the best choice is to have both! |

Having different opinions is one of the coolest things in the collectors' world! To my mind Safari flamingo is more delicate, just like a real bird. Don't you agree? I agree, is more delicate, but the CollectA one is from a different scale, is bigger! I undestand perfectly your point of view because are some brands unable to do delicate animals!:) 75 years without a flamingo! I will explain with your photo.. Has you see, the real flamingo is not has delicate has the Safari one, it has a more massive body, and pay attention at the point where the neck starts, almost under the body, as it happen with collectA, you have still the feathers and face! Anyway the best choice for a diorama is the Safari because is smaller and it's in grassless! ...and you have both! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

...and you have both! Yeah, the Safari one is slimmer - it looks like it's on a diet :) But I like it more. _________________ Owners of miniature zoos on shelves, unite! My collector's blog

Is different to say which is the best of the market and the one we like more... remember, the Safari is smaller, more expensive and the one I've bought! Could you please put a complete frontal view of your Safari flamingo, to compare with mine, Kiril? |

But if it is too much work, never mind! I want to see the balance to compare with mine, anyway the 3rd picture let me see more or less!:) |

| Congrats on your new birds Kyrill! I do have most of them to, as Safari makes great birds indeed. I have a flock to, but only one Safari, 2 Bullylands(different) and a Hartung. But i am never really sure about the species, same for a lot of the pelicans to. In my eyes, the very pink flamingo's are the Cuban species or so... |

You know, I'm not fond of "tuning" figures. Moreover, all my 4 flamingos slightly differ from each other, they're not even the same height. So some diversity is there already! :) - Roger wrote:

I've got the Collecta one too, but it doesn't complement Safari figures and is displayed separately. - WILLYBACOMAN wrote:

Yeah, they look like American Flamingos indeed. But I need a flamingo lake in my African shelf, so I had to settle on a compromise... _________________ Owners of miniature zoos on shelves, unite! My collector's blog
