| Hi Folks I find the Saola fascinating and have been reading all about them and the work of Bill Robichaud who is working hard to save these rare animals. You can read about the Saola Working Group here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]However the main reason is that I wanted to share some news which I just read about. It is quite exciting: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]So at least there is confirmation that the animals are alive and well in this remote region. |

| I really hope there are thousands just hiding around - it would be so brilliant. I also hope that some zoos are able to capture a fair number and study them and breed them so they we have stocks in conservation zoos so that if anything happens to the wild population we have a back up - much like the Pere David's Deer. |

That would be great, but unfortunately the Saolas survive only a few days / weeks in captivity, which makes the breeding actually impossible. But what I would imagine it would build a small kennel, with a few animals, one would somehow only managed that the animals also survive. |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I love reading stories like these! It gives me so much hope for the recovery of this species especially after hearing about the extinction of the western black rhino _________________ Kelsey [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." ~Anatole France |

| Those are good news and the animal is quite cute, though, as Paolo says, all animals need to be preserved it doesn't matter how they do look. Thanks for sharing news and video. |

| Great! One of my dad's cousins in Australia works for the WWF. He came to the U.S. For a wedding, and I talked to him for a while. His work sounds very interesting. _________________ "Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away!"
