| What is your pick for the Best and the Worst Schleich Horse of all time - and why? With best and worst I mean if looking at them objectively. (Maybe this could end up a couple of polls one day? Roger )I think the 2014 Arabian Mare is the worst. This is not 1975, but 2014 - and Schleich have great manufacturing and paintwork - great opportunities to make THE BEST HORSES EVER --- but they do not IMHO. I also ponder their claim of being educational.. The Best however, I think, is the 2009 Hannoverian Stallion He's got the great sculpting of the early Schleich horses, but also the detail of the newer models. I seriously wonder why they have changed their style so drastically from then till now. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] _________________ ~ Portfolio & Online Comic ~

| I love the Hanoverian Mare (13227, retired in 2004). Some of my all time favorites are also Arabian Stallion (13248, retired 2008), Trakehner Mare (13261, retired 2007), Chestnut Mare (13253, retired 2007), Tennessee Walking Stallion (13631), and both Quarter Horses (13251 retired 2009 and 13650 retiring 2014). There are others I love too (retired Percheron Mare I think? and of course the Holstein and the Thoroughbred Susanne mentioned). I haven't kept up with the more recent Schleich horses. I think they have their virtues (probably) and I wouldn't judge anyone for loving them, but they are definitely not my cup of tea. Honestly, I haven't bought a horse in a while. The last one of I really liked was CollectA Quarter Stallion (the one kind of balking, 88584). A couple of the horses mentioned above: Trakehner [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Tennessee Walking [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Chestnut: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Old Quarter (I think I like the more recent one even more) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Best model would be a tie between 13204 & 13210. Worst model? Any recent release with bug eyes, braided manes, ribbons/bows - you get the picture... I think a strong case could be made for 13216 and 13222-1 (mane up variant). |

| Hmm..Schleich has produced so many fantastic figurines... The best years all models were just stunning! I think on of the most beautiful model is TWH stallion or percheron mare.. I can't choose one of the best [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And the worst! This is not difficult. Ok, I haven't hold the new arabian mare in my hands, but in the pictures it looks absolutely awful. _________________ Jonas Animals are my friends. I don't eat my friends. | Obviousely I love the Limited Edition White Friesian. I just can't get enough of him.
As for worst: The new Arab. I will get her eventually, but neither me, nor my sweet horsies are very enthousiastic about it. _________________ Breyer: 66 Bullyland: 25 CollectA: 183 Papo: 82 Safari: 150 Mojo fun: 23 Playmobil: 117 Other: 288 ~ schleich count: 1222 ~ Total: 2156 My DeviantArt: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]My Twitter: @Tezzieh My Instagram: tessa.b.storm |

| My favorites are basically the same as Scott and the Friesian in more recent days! There are many good horses in Schleich history, it is hard to choose a single one. The worst, it may be a symbolic choice but surely it is the 2013 Shire mare! No, she is not the ugliest not even the less accurate, she is clearly the representative of this new generation of horses that look like dolls. I remember visiting Schleich shops and enjoying shelves. I always found wild animals of a medium quality, never liked dinosaurs, always wanted all these whales but not for my wallet but my favorite shelf was always the one dedicated to horses although I never really collected them. It was an exiting feeling to see all that confusion of wonderful horses, a kind of equine world in miniature, I remember thinking how real some of them were. My shock was exactly with Princess, I remember seeing it in a shop for the first time, huge, light colored and silly. Of course I knew it from the forum already or the shock could be bigger. No, she really didn't belong to that collection, that row of Princesses destroyed completely the good feeling of watching the equine world in miniature. Now I was seeing one more shelf of toys, banal toys. Please try to understand me, I bought recently it to my niece and I don't want her to not like it. It is me, Roger, those are not the kind of figures that makes me want to collect horses. And why the Shire mare when there are now a lot of doll horses? Because in my opinion, she represents the prototype of that new line, some share a familiar looking with her and it is obvious when we see the new trakehner mare that is not prettier than Princess. The new Arabian, is only one more of the same doll horses collection, many people doesn't like her not only because she is not really well sculpted, but because she has not the friendly expression of Princess, she looks the convinced and irritating school girl that thinks is prettier and superior to all others. Though, even she is weird, I can see an Arabian horse and I am not able of seeing a Shire in Princess. I see an innocent girl that did her best with her hair and is timidly waiting for a praise. After all this long comment, I feel really... but really... an expert.... ... of dolls! |

| Roger, thank you for your thoughts on the best/worst horse theme But I think your comments, I suspect they belong to this thread: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (Yes, the Arabian Mare looks like an annoying school girl ) _________________ ~ Portfolio & Online Comic ~
