| Margit (Fern) had got some Schleich catalogues from USA, and discovered that the year 2000 issue was not similar to the European one ! Being such a great friend, she sent me an American one, - I already have the German one - so I could see for myself. There are several differences. But my scanner is old and slow, so here are only the most interesting ones. In the German catalogue there are Smurfs. They are not in the USA-catalogue. I am not scanning those, - there are 16 pages. Some are really cute, by the way ;-) These Nature Sets are in the USA one, not the German one : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And, WOW ! here is the brown pelican in the USA-catalogue : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The brown birdie is not in the German one : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]These cages are only in the German one: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Same with the farm houses, but they are of a very German arcitecture, so maybe that is natural. The good old horse stable is in both. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The little Dollies are only in the German copy of the 2000-catalogue. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Maybe most surprising : The Artist`s horses are not in the American catalogue, only in the German one : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I got the 2010 American one from Sue (Washington), I only have those two American catalogues. Maybe the range of the American Schlich changed later ? |

| Great Susanne!!!! Now I finally get to see the difference myself I hope to find the German 2000 catalogue for myself also!!! (So if any of you has a spare one....... ) I really like these "funny small details" ..... differences in catalogues - who would have thought animals in USA and Europe are so different, that seperate catalgues are needed???? So happy you liked the catalogue my friend!!!! |

| Yes, now they are back Don`t know what happened I like old catalogues, too. Before Gascher`s that was all i had. I had the brown pelican, but could never find it in a catlogue, - it seems it was only sold in USA, - or what ????????? |

| What a great and interesting post, thanks for putting the pics up Susanne. So interesting to see the difference.
I think with many things, companies always change things slightly for the US market. Record companies do the same with Artists from Europe. Albums will have difference tracklists in Europe and covers and sometimes they are different in the USA. Obviously with Schleich they have altered things so that they are geared towards the US market and are saleable. A brown Pelican adds to the mix of giving something different to the US too......thanks for this. |

| Great to see the differences in catalogues from the same year now! I knew that they sold different things in the USa, because just a few years ago, Amy showed us some sets, that weeren'r available here in Europe strangely enough... And this is the first time, that i can see those older retired sets in box, and good combinations they are too! I think, they will be,and are very rare around here! |
