Gmünder Fasnetsanhänger

Wen es interessiert.
Fasnetsanhänger von Schleich und Bullyland.
1980 war ein Feuerwehrschlumpf als Anhänger.
1981 Königsturm, 1989 Fünfknopfturm und 1993 Spitalmühle fehlen mir.
1992 gab es keinen wegen dem Irakkrieg. Es wurde weiter der Glockenturm von 1991 verkauft.

This are even figurines of real houses from the town where the factory of Schleich is.
Since 1980 every year one comes out without 1992.
The first 1980 was a smurf and 1981, 1989 und 1993 i`m still missing.

I never saw them before, can you tell more? From Bully and Schleich, you say, - did they make them together ?

What is the story about the silverman ?

It is the symbolfigurine of the gmünder Carneval since 1930.
I don`t can translate it all.

"Seit den 30er Jahren hat die Gmender Fasnet, geschaffen durch Albert Deibele, eine neue Symbolfigur: das Silbermännle
Dem Vernehmen nach soll im Klosterwald von Gotteszell die Gestalt des Silbermännle vor langer Zeit dem verarmten Gmünder Silberschmied Ignaz Storr erschienen sein, der nicht mehr wusste, wie er seine Frau und die vielen Kinder ernähren sollte.
Die Gestalt gab Ignaz Storr den Tipp, alsbald mit der Herstellung von silbernen Rosenkränzen zu beginnen. Der Kunsthandwerker tat, wie ihm empfohlen und wurde rasch ein reicher und angesehener Bürger. Nicht nur in seinem Hause, sondern in der ganzen Gold- und Silberschmiedezunft kehrte der Wohlstand ein. Das Silbermännle wurde so zum Glücksbringer und guten Geist des Gold- und Silberschmiedehandwerks.

Heute wird es beim Faschingsauftakt jedes Jahres erweckt, fährt auf einem eigenen Wagen an der Fasnet durch die Straßen von Schwäbisch Gmünd und am Aschermittwoch wird es von den Gmünder Bürgern wieder verabschiedet."

The firemanmold was made 1981. It was sold by Schleich between 1981 and 1986. Then again between 1992 and 1994.

In both the 1992 and 1993 catalogue Schleich shows a picture of the fireman with a red nozzle. Only around these years that was used. What I have heard the keychain firemansmurf was made as a promo for the firedepartment in Schwäbish Gmünd. And this smurf sometimes can be found with CE marking. Schleich started marking their figurines with CE in 1990-1991. So I would say this smurf is from around 1990. ???

One thing I am pretty sure of though. It was not used in 1980.

You must admit that it would be very strange to mark a figurine with the year 1981 in 1980!! For example I don´t think Schleich will mark their new animals for 2012 with the year 2013, right??

Yes, and it was the first figurine wich was sold in Schwäbisch Gmünd.
The second figurine was the Königsturm.
But it could be, that both was sold in 1981. (and not the firesmurf in 1980)

The keychain is the entrance card for the carnival parties in Schwäbisch Gmünd.
Even the firedepartment make carnival parties.

That could be correct. Schleich also had other keychains with smurfs in 1980. I have pictures from the 1980 Schleichcatalogue with them. Are you sure it was a firemansmurf? Schleich have had smurfs made since 1965.

And as you say, many was used as promos before 1980 also, when Bully had the license for the smurfs in Germany.

Off couse it could be the fireman. Many of the smurfs was first sold as a promo, like the ice lolly, cardplayer, petrolattendant etc.

A woman from the Fastnetteam from Schwäbisch Gmünd said it to me.
And i send her a photo from my fireman smurf and she said, that this is the right one.

But then as you said the year must be wrong. It must be 1981. I just love to get information about the promos. I have pictures of all Schleichcatalogues from 1979 to today and have many myself also. But the promos are not in any catalogues.

I have checked with my collectorsfriends and the keychain fireman never has any CE marking. The only CE marked with red nozzle is one without keychain. But then probably they just switched the smurf at some time. So most likely the red nozzle only goes with the fireman with keychain and was then only used in the beginning! :)

I still have a Schleich keyhanger which i didn't see in anybody's collection, and i can't find it in any catalogue either, but it is clearly marked as Schleich...

That should make it clear Peter, a real Schleich, and with this mark on the leg, it seems to be from a similar serie as the other keyhangers...
