Wow, I this this horse and blacksmith set is very interesting! How nice idea! I've never seen the other toy set like this! cheers

There were two other similar blacksmith sets made by old lead companies in the UK, one by John Hill & Co, the other by a small company in Wallasey, Cheshire (north-west of England) called Roydon. A third company, Moultoy, also sold the Roydon set, presumably buying them in wholesale, and packing them in their own branded boxes, although there may have been two sets of moulds. As with so many vintage items, all the people who knew what happened probably died long ago.

Britains made a blacksmith + anvil, but didn't do a forge, in 'the old days', and the new owners of Britains made a new metal blacksmith set (1980s?)

There were several wooden blacksmith forge buildings made by various manufacturers. I'll do a separate thread of those in my collection.

So it would be possible to make a small specialist sub-collection on this theme, easily enough to fill one shelf, perhaps enough for two shelves in a typical display cabinet.

Crescent also did a blacksmith figure with anvil in plastic as part of their farm series.

Thanks for the info on all Dave and Chris.
My two Britains chimp party's are unboxed too.
The fist one is missing the base and some more parts.
The second one i bought, is only missing one drinking-cup, as i suggest that there should be 4 of them.
I also have the 1376 chimp assorted set.
I was aware of the chairs from the Floral-series, as i had a full box in package here a while ago.
As they were not in my interest, i sold them through.

Yes, Andreas, my collection has some hidden old models too, haha.

You are welcome Willy. Apologies as I credited your Britains Chimps Tea Party to Dave!  Embarassed

Yes there should be four breakers included in the tea Party set and one is lucky to have any from sets not boxed as they are easily lost. You never know you might find some in one of those bags of miscellaneous bits and pieces!

I am glad that Britains issued the tea party chimps separately as they are wonderful designs. During the early 1970’s zoos under went a change and started to modernise as wild life parks. This lead to animals being housed in natural environments and things like chimps tea parties were to be no more!

Good man Chris!  Wink Why do you English call those cups breakers, instead of cups or beakers or so...
I saw some more things which are probably not correct in this set, the zoo-keeper has no hole in his leftarm to hold the chimp, and the chimp on the arm is of the ass. set i guess, it has no point underneath. I have to check my other set too.

Willy, a cup is made from china and easily broken if dropped or thrown. It is especially designed for drinking tea from. A breaker is taller and almost cylindrical in shape and usually made from a material which is unbreakable.

You are right here Willy. The tea party keeper has a hole in his left shoulder to hold the chimp with the right arm stretched out and this chimp does have a peg in it’s bottom to ensure they don’t fall off!

It can get a bit complicated but hopefully this information clarifies everything!  Laughing

Thanks Chris, i understand completely, as just wonder sometimes that the English really have a word for everything, because we  would call most of them cups, or beakers, not in Dutch although, some words you can't just translate...
But i learn a lot from watching antiques/auction shows on the BBC, i just love them!
Bargain Hunt, Put your money where your mouth is, The Antiques Road Show, Cash in the attic and so on.

Now for some T&B/FGT/B&S farm items.

First up, a post-war only FGT, 'Hansom Trap' (actually a Cabriolet type Farmer's Gig).
Sitting farmer driver missing from this one.
FGT also did a small cart (like the small one by Britains) using the same trotting horse.

More horses:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The heavy horse is a new post-war item by FGT, in this example flocked. Usually painted a light chestnut colour, like the mare/foal
The mare (2 paint versions + 1 flocked) and foal were pre-war by T&B and post-war by B&S
I know the foal also exists painted dark brown to match the other mare, & guessing also flocked.

The hut was made pre-war by T&B as a shelter in their seaside donkey ride set, post-war it was a pig hut by FGT.

For some unknown reason, T&B didn't make any poultry of dogs pre-war, so both photos are all new post-war items.

People & donkeys:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Top row & 1st item middle row: Modern repros of the pre-war T&B seaside donkey ride set.
I got them quite cheap, and they're actually much nicer than originals.
As said in the pig post, in the original donkey ride set, the hut was included.
The resting donkey and donkey foal were also part of the Donkey ride set, but these are originals, made post-war as part of the B&S farm range.

Bottom row:
Girl feeding lamb: pre-war T&B, post-war FGT
Scarecrow: new post-war item by FGT
Milkmaid #1: new FGT item
Milkmaids #2 #3: pre-war T&B, post-war B&S
Farmer (small scale): pre-war T&B, post-war B&S
Cowman (small scale): pre-war T&B, post-war FGT (2 paint versions)

Yep, 'flocked' = fluffy coat.

As I understand it, they coated the items with glue, then placed them in a special container, then applied electricity, which caused to fluffy stuff to fly onto anything metal, which was kept stuck in place by the glue.

Or something like that.  scratch
