Invitation to world artists to sell custom models through MiniZoo

As most of you are aware we own the website MiniZoo http://www.minizoo.com.au/. We have around 5000 registered customers, 1200 Facebook followers and our site gets over 10,000 hits per month. We do international shipments at least 3 times per week.

I always enjoy coming onto STS and in particular the custom models section. I'm sure you will all agree that there are some amazing artists producing world class models. Some are making their own moulds and producing copies. It occurred to me that we could set up a new category within MiniZoo where we could create a central point for artists to sell their models, giving them a potentially huge customer base and putting them on a level platform with the major brands.

Artists will need to send us the models they wish to sell, which we will hold on consignment. We will feature the models on the website and our Facebook page and customers will be able to purchase the figures through our shopping cart system. This will allow customers to select various custom models from different artists and combine/save on postage costs.

Artists will be able to set their own pricing. We will ask for a 20% commission after allowing for transaction fees and we will remunerate the artists via PayPal on a monthly settlement based on the models sold. Artists can request that unsold stock be returned at any time.

We hope that this seems attractive to some of the well established sculptors and that it will also give some of the emerging artists an opportunity to 'step up'. We do expect a certain standard and will reserve the right to be selective with the quality of model that is to be offered for sale through MiniZoo.

AHHH! So you ARE the Minizoo   

This is a brilliant idea !!! Imagine being able to see the work of artists from all over the world in your shop    

I'm interested, but my models aren't good enough Maybe in some months (or Years )  

I like the idea. If I were better I would consider. Dan's Dinosaurs does something similar.

Bonobo and Geospiza fortis you are both still very young and already producing some terrific work. I think you'll continue to develop into extremely fine sculptors and I'll keep watching your progress with a lot of interest!!
