By the way, how many meters2 have your diorama Phil? No worries about the lemur, I usually choose animals that are not common or available as toys because those are what I am interested in. I wanted to have golden langurs but they are too small to have made easily or with any detail, grey langurs are the largest species and the Bandai are the correct scale. The diorama is just a little smaller then 2 meters, it is 60 inches long and 42 inches wide (a little more than a meter wide). |

| Here are some more Indian photos, I have posted a few in earlier posts, others were taken yesterday so if you have seen some of them that is why. Here is one of my favorite photos, it shows the water surface while it is free of dust and the reflection of the background on the surface. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]These two are of the wreathed hornbills on the banyon tree. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I love the male nilgai, these are one of my favorite antelope species so it was a thrill when they were finally ready for the diorama [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I took some others, but they are mostly just different angles of the same figures, when I put some of the other models out I will take a few more. I spent some time putting the talipot tree on the diorama this morning, trying it in different places until I found a spot I am happy with, I'll try to get some photos of that as well. |

| So I have only one suggestion for your beautiful birds. I think you need to repaint with a glossy paint, instead of the flat paint. By using a glossy paint it would make the feathers have more of a sheen to them, making them look more realistic. I notice it the most on the black areas of the hornbills. Just think it would look better(the flat paint looks a little too dull). |

Just think it would look better(the flat paint looks a little too dull). These figures have a glossy coat, it just doesn't show up in the photos. The bald ibis were painted with a metalic blue over the black and as they move in the light the color changes so you can see the blue sheen. These birds are all custom made, I make a few and the rest are either by Ana for me or by a sculptor for Danny and he has changed scales so they don't fit in his zoo any longer. |

The dogs came from Anna, I have only used custom animals for a while now because I don't have the choice of species or poses with the toy brands. I thought of this scene quite a while ago and Anna was so fantastic to bring it to life. Anna, Harriet, myself and another couple of sculptors have done all of the animals that I now have for the diorama, and hopefully there will be many more to come! |
