Merten animal figurines

Today i got for a friend this wonderful Merten American buffalos.





The seller alowed me also to share his pics from the auctions   














The size is much bigger as i believe before, i like it

Really nice catch Andreas    Merten figures are uneasy to find nowadays   

It is the first time I see some unpainted models.

Maybe some German member will find a Merten catalog one day, it would be really helpful    

The lions, the black banteng (gaur ?) and the buffalo are missing in my collection     

Many thanks friends, but this figurines are not for me. I bought them for a person that also helped me to find some figurines:)

I disagree, it looks much more like a Javan banteng



Here are the other Bantengs

I see your point Christophe, but the grey colour made me think so, and the longer horns, and the fact that waterbuffalo's were modelled very often in those days.

Ok, it is not a Javan banteng... And not a Waterbuffalo too. It is a Gaur Have a look at this great thread of a Fantastic forum

Wait, those are ban... no, willy has the reason! I also watched those models, and those are gaurs, not bantengs... Oooooops! Sorry about it. (It's really disappointing, because the bantengs could be a great idea for a toy) Bantengs are one of my favorite animals

Good afternoon, Widukind! I noticed that these two American bison from Merten are actually Wisents (in German websites, these Wisents are sometimes painted like American bison for some reason, but from the sculpt and catalog illustrations from 1965, these first two images are models of the European wisent species).

Also, would you consider sending those pictures to the Toy Animal Wiki for the European Bison page? That might help a lot...

I can share new pics, because i dont have these animals. But if the admins want, i can send these older pics

Quite frankly, sending these older photographs would be the best option, in order to avoid confusion with the Merten American bison proper... So yes, likely the original pics. :)
