| I was up in the mountains about 9000 ft elevation when I came across this very small tree [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]It was only about 5 ft tall, I've made model trees almost that tall before! Anyway I loved the shape so I started a model of it, here is the frame. It's not the best angle, it doesn't show the best view so it doesn't look like it matches the actual tree very well but after I get some of the "wood" added I'll get some better photos so you can compare the shape to the live tree. | I've added the "wood" and took some photos at angles that are similar to the view of the original view of the tree. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Tonight I'll start to paint the base with an undercoat then I'll add the bark tomorrow. |

| Nice progress Phil, you must be more inspired to sculpt a scale model based on a real specimen you photographed and saw in life....rather than using second hand references. Great stuff. |

| I like everything that is made in real 1:1 scale and a tree is not an exception. Looking already great as usual and it is exciting to follow your projects. |

The needles are tough Jason, I have pre made pine needles that I just cut to size and attach one at a time! Here is a close up of the first set of needles I've attached. Once these dry I will add more to fill them in until I have the finished look. If you put too many on at one they tend to fall off in big clumps so a few here and there until the glue dries then more until it's finished is the best way. Looking already great as usual and it is exciting to follow your projects. This tree is in 1:22 scale Roger, I just am using a real tree instead of my imagination as the shape, usually I get inspiration from nature but don't follow a pattern, and this tree isn't an exact replica, but it is close. Here is some progress photos, the bark and the painted tree with the first set of needles. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Great to see it taking shape. A lot of patience required for one needle at a time but the effect will be worth it. _________________ - Tahnaya [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] https://www.minizoo.com.au/ |

| Here it is so far, as mentioned, it isn't an exact copy but I used the original tree as the basis for the model, first the tree to compare it to... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And the model... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
