| Interesting! The body of Chap Mei elephant looks quite similar to Vanishing Wild one, while head is obviously different It looks a bit like they copied the body and sculpted completely new head for it. For the scale, although unpainted yet, the 1:22 elephant designed by Andrew (I only painted the calf so far): [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]here also with Papo tigress (which seems to big in this scale): [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And whole family of 1:22 animals [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| Anna, thank you for showing the calf model, I really like how you painted it! The colour reminds me a bit of the old Lineol style. I'm really interested to see how you will paint the adult elephants.
The last picture is really great, nice to see all the custom animals in scale with each other. |

That means i will not be bale to find me a good scales Elephant in the market these days. Even though they start to tempt me - I can not buy them without having a giraffe that scales with them at the most. Africa has both Elephants and giraffes and I can't put the elephant bigger tehn the giraffe - been a large elephant and a small giraffe - it should be taller.
I really like to get the Safari vanishing 1:24 sacled - where can I get it?
thanks, The best is to forget those called VW (Vanishing Wild) once they're long retired and you'll take years to find some of them. I agree with Roger. I just saw the Vanishing Wild elephant on eBay and they wanted 250 euros plus 20 euros for shipping. The shipping would probably be higher because of where you live. You can see if someone on the forum has one for trade or sale. |

| I don't think I'm contributing anything new, but let me echo some things others have said.
It's going to be really hard (and expensive) to find the Vanishing Wild Elephant. Orcagirl's post immediately above is a good example.
The Lineol is also very expensive. It is a gorgeous sculpts, no doubt. But you should expect to pay 100 Euros for one that is in good condition.
As others have said, I think the Safari Wildlife Wonders African and Asian Bulls are just fantastic. I don't own any of the other Wildlife Wonders (i.e. Jumbo) figures -- they are too big for my collection -- just the elephants. They are indeed much bigger than my schleich and papo elephants, but they are the best ones I have.
Good luck!

| Thank You everyone for helping me to choose my Elephant. I really thank each and everyone of you for showing size comparisons and also for your advises. Thanks Fernando for the Chap mei Elephant pictures - I am not even sure that I can find it in the market - It looks great! Thanks Ana for showing us Andrew's "White" Elephant :) this is the Bull that is missing for the Cow from Safari Ltd. They should couple great I think. Thank you Susanne for pictures comparisons of Bullyland 2 Elephants differences. Thank you Orcagirl and Scot(t) for giving me the right push in the right direction. Thanks Elephas for creating Elephants figures and enriching our collections. Thanks widukind, Animal_Figures_4U, Bonobo, AlienMantis, Bloodrayne and Kiki for your help in giving me the right answer to help with my decision and directing me with the right size and figure I should choose. And last but not least, Thank you Roger for letting me understand and feel the figures even when they are not in my hands.
I have not decided yet - But I know what I should be choosing.
THANK YOU ALL!! |

| Just wondered - If the small one I have can actually be Forest one (Loxodonta cyclotis) ? Does the forest looks exactly the same as the African one but smaller? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]To me - This one looks like Shliech version :) Thanks, |

| Following wikipedia, size is not the only difference between these two species: "Compared to the bush elephant, the African forest elephant has a longer, narrower mandible and its ears are more rounded. Its tusks are straighter and harder and have a pinkish tinge. It also has a different number of toenails — normally five on the forefoot and four on the hindfoot, like the Asian elephant but unlike the African bush elephant which normally has four toenails on the forefoot and three on the hind foot." _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

The LEGO block is for size comparison Susanne, does the Bullyland elephant is in the same scale as the Wildlife Wonders Eleophant from Safari? I would be happy to see scale comparison if that is possible. Thank you |

| This Wildlife Artist is doing a great work!!! She could defiantly make some elephants that will be excellent with our scaling :) each and everyone of them is a masterpiece - she captures the Asian elephant personality and cast it in clay. I have been watching her working on elephants for couple of hours - and I have enjoyed each and every one of them. Hope you would enjoy the same as I did - Here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I would be happy to know if this talented Wildlife Artist, Khwan Barton is a member of this forum! Just wondering if these are 1:20 scale? Herwork just speaks for themselves!! Thank you Khwan Barton!!! |

| Arye, it is good to know you're happy. Actually, I was quite silly wasting to much money in small elephants like Schleich etc., with that money I could buy that monumental figure that gives justice to the largest land mammal. I believe you're a little scared at the moment, they outsize any expectation but you'll soon get used with them. I think now you need a blue whale in scale with them. Congratulations! | Thank you Roger and Susanne. I am very happy with all the three :) I know that it will take time to get used to them. Now I have One Male African Elephant and One Female Asian Elephant - I think that if I had two from each Jumbo figures (not the same figure) - male and female. it would be perfect as well - Like Noah! I can use other brands elephants and giraffes as a background dwellers of the presentation or maybe try to make them look as the youngest members of the herd. I needed to have them since I wanted to break the size differences between the elephants and the other animals (Specially members of the bovine Family - that looks BIG). That is why I think having these "jumbo" 1:20 in scale are a true addition to my collection (Already getting used to their size - that is comparably not that HUGE). Only when you have the Jumbo in hand you see that THEY ARE exactly what you were looking for. Cost: 1 Jumbo = ~3 Medium sized IMHO that is a reasonable price. - These Three I got online last week and I was lucky that my friend came to visit Israel yesterday - I ordered them and just asked him to get them for me, and he did! :) I was also lucky to find all three in one place, Even with FREE Shipping to USA - that is why I compare ONLY the actual price of the figures. Regarding Marine life including Whales and Dolphins I think I should be using a different scale, No? 1:24-1:28 or even 1:30 - Is that correct Roger? Otherwise I'll need to find VERY LARGE replicas to fill the need. I know that I might be wrong about this, But I would be very hard to find a blue Whale to match the scale of 1:20 :) or maybe I will build my presentation on a Blue Whale scaled 1:20 (like the Globe) . I wanted to raise the scaling question regarding Marine Life, I wonder what is the RIGHT scale for them? Does that include Seals and walruses as well? Thank You! |

| Now I feel you're really happy and sure that you made the right decision. This group of figures is much comparable with the real thing than if you were collecting all from the same brand. Now that you started it correctly, I think the best is to add other important species to your African group or starting adding more Asian species with your Indian elephant. I was kidding about the blue whale, if you wanted it in 1:20 scale, you needed a figure close to 1,5 metters and even if it was from a lighter rubber as Schleich blue whale, it could weigh more than 20 kg! I think you cannot mix all sealife theme in the same scale. Remember a blue whale is almost 30 metters long while some seals are really small. I think you can keep the 1:20 scale to pinipeds and a much smaller scale to whales and large sharks. Maybe the best idea is to check which is the largest blue whale on market and calculate its scale and try to find other species that fit with it. Though, that's another subject. Thanks for the video of Khwan Barton , it is wonderful but I'm not talking exclusively of her sculpts. Everything is marvelous in that video. I am almost sure she's not a member of our forum or any other I know but I'm sure STS could be a perfect place to her. |

| Yes Roger you are correct! :) I am very happy with my decision. And this is mainly why? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Regarding African and Asian Groups - I have some that I have already shown in my pictures. I got all Three Zebras from Schliech that are perfectly scale with the African Elephant Do you know which brands already had Blue Whale figurines? I will look for the RIGHT Blue Whale and maybe start another thread on it and other Marine Mammals. I also sure that STS could be a perfect place for the talented Nature Artist, Khwan Barton. Thanks for helping me chose the RIGHT Elephant for me :) |
