The 2014 Kaiyodo CapusleQ Museum common Chipmunk: A walkaround by kikimalou

Following the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], let me introduce to you the new Kaiyodo common chipmunk. Very different from the new Schleich, this small mammal from the Hokkaido CapsuleQ museum set desserve imho a place on every decent rodents shelves.

The Siberian chipmunk or common chipmunk (Eutamias sibiricus) appears across northern Asia from central Russia to China, Korea, and Hokkaidō in northern Japan. The Siberian chipmunk was imported from South Korea and introduced in Europe as a pet in the 1960s. It is the only chipmunk found outside North America.
Typically the Siberian chipmunk has 4 white stripes and 5 dark stripes along the back. It is 18–25 cm long, a third of which is the tail. This species is relatively small compared to other Sciuridae, such as the Red Squirrel. The Siberian chipmunks are not known to exhibit sexual dimorphism, and size and body proportions are the only way to distinguish younger chipmunks from older ones.
The Siberian chipmunk can survive in a variety of habitats and conditions. They are usually found in coniferous forests, stony areas within forests and mountains, habitats filled with shrub, along waterways or roads, or other small patches of agricultural land.

Ohhhh it is so cute! But not Schleich-cute, of course I have chipmunks all over the place right now, but it is a different species, the Eastern Chipmunk.

Oh, I see that this wonderful walkaround got almost forgoten.
I'm glad that the reorganization of the forum brought me to this thread and that I've found it.
Interesting that the Japanese looks more large headed than the Schleich, the German brand is making proportionally smaller heads these days.
I like the markings of Japanese figure and pose is also great!

I may be wrong, but I think the Kaiyodo Chipmunk head looks large because it is perhaps meant to be understood as holding nuts inside its mouth. Can anyone verify this?
