| I received from DutchBear a fox that looks exactly like Starlux one but in a color that I have never seen before. Size is the same, both weigh 5g, material looks the same, however the mould looks like an mold at the end of its life. I have checked some other Starlux foxes from other collectors and all look like the left one that I received from Susanne. What could it be the right one? | I'd say it's a resin home-cast, it's slightly bigger all round and smoother in sculpting yet with a grainy/bitty texture all over. That would suggest someone has taken a mould off of an original? _________________ Small Scale World Airfix Figures Facebook - Hugh Walter eBay - smallscaleworld

Thanks for your replies. It doesn't look a resin figure once I can see seams, it is almost surely hard plasticSeams are identical in both figures what show that parts were assembled alike. Maybe it confirms that it is a Starlux figure definitively? . The only difference I can tell is the less textured surfaces. Maybe it is only a home repaint that removed the texture because of the extra layer of paint. Though, it also doesn't look repainted at all! Was there any later set or series where they reused the mold with a different painting? Well, I have a Starlux mistery indeed.

Thanks everyone, I also find them very playful, like the owner is sending a ball and foxes are ready to get it. I hope some additional information can be found but until better information, I'll keep it as a Starlux variation.

I used a better scale and figured that in fact foxes have different weights, enough to conclude that unlikely it is just a painting variation. Original Starlux is 5,4 g and misterious fox is 4,2 g, 25% lighter than the original. Also, I searched in an exaustive way for Starlux foxes and I am not able of finding any other looking like the misterious one. Some examples: Susanne's [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Thierry's [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Kiki's picture [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

It is an old topic but with @Caracal and other experts around, maybe I can find an answer to it. I should have added here also the same fox with a fir on a base I received in the meantime from Kosta! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

AHHHHH! There it is !!! Such a wonderful mini- diorama . I think I remember that it was Starlux who made souvenirs for sale in the Alps ( And perhaps other places) . I have a Chamois Perhps I should try to take a photo with my mobile phone, - even if I always make terrible pictures with the thing

The book "Les feuillets de l'association Starlux génération Beffara" shows Susanne's chamois on the rock. It was released in 1963. It was indeed made as a souvenir. The original Starlux fox was released in 1962. Strangely, it is missing in TAW. I don't see the other fox in the book. I am not a Starlux expert, but I believe you can usually guess from the way they are painted whether it is a (post-1959) Starlux. The painting of the other fox doesn't look very Starlux-like to me, but who knows.

Susanne, your phone camera can make wonderful photos ..you should use it :) And wow ... this bigger chamois is so beautiful . I am seeing it for the first time. Now I want one .. But I think, the Fox mini- diorama is different ..at least it is with a not real Starlux model...it is a copy.

Kosta, thankyou !! I am happy you like the telephone-photos It is extremely difficult to hold that telephone quiet, and touch the screen to take pictures. I think I took 25 pictures where 22 were either shaken or had pictures of my fingers in them My shoulders are completely cramped ! Auch, auch I have never really used it before, - perhaps if I train a bit

The Starlux fox is from 1962. How can the TAW head editor have missed it?

Yes, TAW is such a great source of information. I now realise there are at least 3 head editors posting in this topic who may all feel addressed. One is particularly into foxes
