The CollectA 88686 Pygmy Hippopotamus: A walkaround by Kikimalou

Pygmy hippos share the same general form as a hippopotamus, that's I guess the reason why Toy manufacturers rarely made one in the past. Officialy, CollectA Pygmy hippo is the third model, after the Starlux WWF and the Colorata.
So it is a Big event, even if CollectA seems to be the "BIg Events and World Première" brand now
The scale is approximatively 1/16

Nevertheless, Pygmy hippo's shape is different enough from common hippopotamus, more gracile and it's back slopes forward, a likely adaptation to pass more easily through dense forest vegetation. Proportionally, the pygmy hippo's legs and neck are longer and its head smaller. The orbits and nostrils of a pygmy hippo are much less pronounced, an adaptation from spending less time in deep water.

It has great details but unfortuanly it's too big for me.

I have to remember that CollectA was planning to replace the current outdated common hippo for another common hippo. Our member amd friend Numaan suggested a pygmy hippo to the company amd they accepted. Obviously the suggestion is important but it is only effective when companies are bold enough amd when they want to be innovative. Not all the unusual species represent a sign of boldness as a pygmy hippo does. When we think starlux and Colorata were the companies that released it before, it has a huge meaning once these two brands are a reference im terms of diversity. CollectA already belongs to this group of prestigious brands of animal figures amd it is more than deserved. Thanks for walk around Kiki!

It surely is big but also good so not worth being replaced by Safari's smaller one in my opinion (comparison of both from Adam just after).
