| I hate to admit it but I have hit a steep drop in collecting. I have not made progress with my tropical fish collection and I only have 1 new acquisition coming in and maybe a few more and that's it. It's been challenging to get my parents to open up to buying from China. Aliexpress is almost like a Chinese eBay---which has its good and bad sellers. I am hoping to get my parents to open up to buying from them and it's not working. Trying to complete my fish collection has become painful, in vain, and low progress. And almost nothing else I want/need. I almost have no idea what to spend my money on either. It's become boring. Of course I'll continue to participate at STS... It probably won't affect my forum activity. But it will affect my collection. _________________ Emma MY SEARCHLIST EBAY STORE TRADE LIST My Instagrams: Personal Page https://www.instagram.com/olympus_593 Concorde Page https://www.instagram.com/speedbird.concorde Collectibles Page https://instagram.com/supersonic_trilobite |

Thank you, that is the hope. The hope that something that has been on my searching list will come up. _________________ Emma MY SEARCHLIST EBAY STORE TRADE LIST My Instagrams: Personal Page https://www.instagram.com/olympus_593 Concorde Page https://www.instagram.com/speedbird.concorde Collectibles Page https://instagram.com/supersonic_trilobite |

| Sometimes you have to just think out of the box, looking for anything that has to do with tropical fish. (some people are bad at giving a good name to the figures that offer them for sale) I've also had a couple of years that I thought I did the collection as well as complete, now I have more than 100 characters more, and I am to much internet research found out that there is MUCH, MUCH more than I ever dreamed. Besides, I'm not at home in the fishing world, maybe there is also not made so much more, maybe you should the subject of your collection than what make bigger so there are more to collect what falls within the price range and delivery of your parents. |

| This is one reason why all my life (since I was a small kid) I've had multiple collections on the go (others not related at all to toy/model figures), it always happens for anyone that nothing is found for a specialised collection for long periods, but stuff might turn up for another collection.
I see you're 14 years old. Some of my collections (or sub-sections within collections) have gone longer than 14 years, some a LOT longer than that, between me finding another item to add. This is particularly true of my favourite series, the wooden farm buildings sold by Britains 1958-62. I had two of them when I was a kid (+ a third made by the same unknown company who supplied Britains with them - Britains didn't have their own woodworking dept.). And I've bought several more over the past 15 years or so. But there was a 30+ year gap between! |

| My collection is growing slowly for months now, not because i'm bored but because of an empty wallet I agree with Dave, having much more than one chord to one's bow is a good way to prevent to be bored. Also you may not have every fish models of the world maybe? Do you collect vintage ones ? |

| Emma, I told you it could happen and you replied it would never happen. Sometimes collecting is so slowly that it turns a little boring but among us there are some collectors of vintage figures that spend long time without a single addition and they keep enjoying it. We already opened some extra Show Us Yours topics, middle month ones, I think that considering you're a very participative member that focuses your interest in tropical fish, we could much probably open an exception to that subject. Not many members have this kind of figures but maybe someone can surprise you with some figures you don't know yet. What do you think? |

| Maybe you could re-arrange your collection. It helps me when I am 'stuck' at some part. Do you already have I diver? I have one from a safari LTD toob http://night-lioness.deviantart.com/art/Can-I-play-with-you-283936672 Photo of the diver :) _________________ ~Karin~

| I recently completed one of my major collecting goals that I had for years - to acquire every Kaiyodo Dinotales figure and variant ever released. Now that I have accomplished this goal, I am both moving on to figuring out a better display system for all my figures as well as collecting higher end vinyl/resin model kits. |

| Hi guys, thanks for all the replies and support. I have tried using every last keyword possible that would have to do with "tropical fish" that I could find. And yes, there was a 4-6 year gap between my first fish and the "reboot" sets (sets I started buying shortly after). Kikamolou, I don't like collecting many vintage figures honestly. I'm not sure why. The oldest ones in my collection are either K&M or Play Visions. And to Roger, I think it's a great idea and it's what my hope is. To see if someone has something I need or see what else I people may have. I hope to keep submitting tropical fish for "SUY" until it eventually wins. I do rearrange my collection every once in awhile. It helps some, but soon becomes boring again. DinoLord, that is essentially my goal as well. To collect every single plastic 2-3 inch modern fish there is. I'm going to have to wait until I can have a card of my own and buy from China. _________________ Emma MY SEARCHLIST EBAY STORE TRADE LIST My Instagrams: Personal Page https://www.instagram.com/olympus_593 Concorde Page https://www.instagram.com/speedbird.concorde Collectibles Page https://instagram.com/supersonic_trilobite |

I'm going to have to wait until I can have a card of my own and buy from China. I doubt there are any really vintage (say made before 1965) fish models to collect anyway, except perhaps a few by US company Marx. Other than those, there were probably some fish among Austrian cold painted bronze figures by Bergmann and similar manufacturers, and you'll need a very serious bank account and a Platinum card to even dream about buying any of those, so they'll certainly have to wait for 20 years or so. Like $300+ each. |

Do you also collect Japanese brands (Kaiyodo, Colorata, Kitan Club) fish models as well? They have some amazing ones I think _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

Do you also collect Japanese brands (Kaiyodo, Colorata, Kitan Club) fish models as well? They have some amazing ones I think I don't, because they're so expensive and fragile. Yes, some are really expensive, that's true. And some are fragile, but not all of them. Colorata models for example are made of the rather rubbery plastic, similar to Safari LTD plastic and such. BY the way, Colorata made one incredible set of deep water fish, I don't collect fish in general but this one I really would love to see in my collection, especially the beautiful giant oarfish (Regalecus glesne) replica is something I wish I could have one day in collection As for being bored with collecting, it happens to me from time to time too. But collecting is one thing but talking about animals probably will never bore me There is always something new you can learn about animals, and that's fantastic Another thing, maybe you can try the creative part of this hobby too, make your own tropical fish model? The one that was never made before? I'm sure your knowledge about exotic fish species is huge so you can use it for choosing something unexpected and unique for your creation _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection
