| I attempted login from Tor. I got the message 'You are not allowed to login to this forum,' although when I logged in from Safari it did so without hitch. Why doesn't login work from Tor? |

| Since Tor disguises one's IP address, that would make difficult several tasks that the moderators have. For instance, we are currently voting on best-of-2014 figures. With Tor, one could "stuff" the ballot box.
Fortunately our moderators are stand-up folks. I'm doubtful that members of the forum need to worry about their IP addresses being available to the STS Admin.

| Yes, you're right Scott! During a member registration we can find this information in agreement terms: "We reserve ourselves the possibility of informing your access provider and/or the legal authorities of any malevolent behavior. An IP address of each poster is recorded in order to help us to make you respect these conditions. " Frankyette, of course you're welcome on forum but we have access to some information about our members, even their current location. |

| Okay, I just didn't understand. I'm not a huge fan of such things - doesn't seem quite right to me - but who am I to argue? |

Obviously, but as you noticed, you can be hidden behind an username, use a false birthday date and even choose an exotic place like Christmas Islands. Christophe analogy is very good and I sure you understand. I am sure no member will have problems because of its IP address as long as there is no abusive behaviour. If you are here just to enjoy, you can use a common browser and feel confortable. |

| Understand that I've had privacy issues before starting with an IP address. I'm not saying your forum is untrustworthy, but because of those issues I'm instantly wary of something like this, thus the question and somewhat snarky response.

| That's completely understandable. There's no need to feel wary here, we're just a harmless village. |
