| Hello friends !! I want to show my new work. I left standing for months for not finding time to model the figure and finally I could find time to do it ! . I wanted to follow in the line of the fauna of the plateau of nepal and after figure I did a while Tibetan antelope or "chiru", I started working on another fascinating and impressive animal: it is the wild yak (bos grunniens or bos mutus, depending on the classification criteria). It is a very strange and mysterious animal that lives in small numbers on the plateau of Nepal. The shape of the animal is impressive and enormous size reminds us of its European relative extinct: the aurochs. " Wild yak usually form herds of between ten and thirty animals. They are insulated by dense, close, matted under-hair as well as their shaggy outer hair. Yaks secrete a special sticky substance in their sweat which helps keep their under-hair matted and acts as extra insulation. This secretion is used in traditional Nepalese medicine. Many wild yaks are killed for food by hunters in China; they are now a vulnerable species. The diet of wild yaks consists largely of grasses and sedges, such as Carex, Stipa, and Kobresia. They also eat a smaller amount of herbs, winterfat shrubs, and mosses, and have even been reported to eat lichen. Historically, the main natural predator of the wild yak has been the Tibetan wolf, but brown bears and snow leopards have also been reported as predators in some areas, likely of young or infirm wild yaks..." | Thank you Anna, Trenton, Costi and Donny ong, glad you like it ! The process continues to shape the animal's body and gradually adding the long strands of hair from the sides and legs ... | I spoiled me on facebook, and I need to say amazing work Miguel! I thought about a mooing bull, but it looks great anyway! The only thing that I don't like so much, is the fur it looks a little too short. |

| Thank you Lee-Ann, Anne joke, Costi (again ), Christophe (I promise to put more bigger photos! ), Cattle, Bryan, Donny and Roger !!. Well, Bryan, the figure of this animal is mooing and I must say that this species has long hairs on the lower body but finer hair on the back and hump. | I want to say something about your work with the texture..? :) I realy like your style of making the texture, of the long hairs, with the ``soft`` technique. And can I share one advice ..? Maybe if you make the texture of the finer hair on the back and hump, to be more ``soft`` too..but not everywhere, just on some places... I think, it will be more in harmony with your beautiful style of making the long hairs. I mean..I`m watching your work as a peace of art - sculpture, where the style is very important And last thing... when i watch the first photo of your topic, of the real Yak...I see some relief of the skin on the front of the chests (right next to the shoulder)..which will be perfect for more realism of your model if you use it :) I apologize, if I allowed myself to give an advices , without your permission :)) |
