| It is time now for another marvelous specie: the marble cat. This small feline is really peculiar as he is itself a miniature of a panther (he was once considered to belong to the pantherine lineage of "big cats"). He has a long furred tail (sometimes longer than the rest of the body) used as a counterbalance for his highly marked arboreal lifestyle. | This was my first attempt for the Marble cat replica. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]After a while I realized that his body was shorter than it should be. So I had two alternatives: Make a new figurine or lengthen the body. I choose the second one and so I can explain you how I use to change the shape or the posture of an already sculpted figurine: First step: Cutting [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Second step: Reassembling [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Third step: Refilling with epoxy clay [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Four step: Reshaping again (more fur, new tail…) and final result: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Taht's interesting, I never understood why most part of sculptors make felines with short bodies, they are quite "elastic" but we can see it even in major brands. It is great that you noticed it and fixed it. Also thanks for explanation, it can be useful to other sculptors. I am sure this replica of a beautiful creature will end very nice as others you did. |
